When does weight gain kick in with pred?

Right away with me, because I could hardly move, and had started on 60mgs of pred, mainly for the g c a, and I could not stop eating.

I'm like you . I've been on it for a month now starting the weaning period and I lost 7 lbs . I guess each person is different .

Not everyone puts weight on with pred. A couple of ladies lost a fair bit, one to the extent her doctor was worried as she was slim anyway! Before going on pred I'd put on weight because I couldn't exercise properly for 5 years and every afternoon I craved something sweet - it was awful, not me at all. As soon as I started on pred that craving went and I ate far less so didn't put much on due to pred - it just moved around and I lost my waist!

I was fine just holding my weight for a month, then the munchies started now one and a half stone heavier. Since I've dropped to 10mg my appetite seems to have waned.

I began Pred last July (40mg) & have gained a stone but now down to 15mg & the weight seems to be levelling a bit thank goodness. When I felt so miserable with this illness, comfort eating was my friend, hopefully as I begin to feel more like myself, this has slowed down!

I started on 20mg, weight gain and face started approx. 3-4 weeks. Now reducing, down to 1mg but weight not shifting at the moment. Doctor says prednisolone affects each person differently. x

Weight loss at start 18 months ago. Pred doses up and down last three months at 10mgs nearly a stone increase. I guess everyone is slightly different.
