Hello Fire

You haven't mentioned if you are on steroids and, if so, the dose you are taking. My experience before diagnosis was much as you describe but once on steroids it became easier. Pre diagnosis, I found it helpful to lie on a folded duvet to get as much cushioning as possible, and because I couldn't turn over I used to alternate from top to bottom of the bed to give each shoulder/hip a break from lying on it, rolling off each time as best I could. Diagnosis and treatment with steroids at sufficient dose to control the inflammation is the only real answer though. Good luck with your appointment next week.

Prepare for the Rheumy appointment by keeping a diary for these few days - note down how the pain affects you and where it affects you, what you were doing when it affected you etc, etc. Add in anything else which might be useful and take it to him. In my experience most Rheumies like this kind of approach as it gives them a better all-round view.
