I had a car crash last March, broke most of the bones in my body but the worst being my pelvis, it was shattered and my lumbar was broken too. I also snapped through my nerve root. I now suffer chronic nerve pain all over but particularly my left leg and foot. Burning, tingling, hot, cold, hypersensitive, agonising, restless legs. I’m on gabapentin 600mg twice a day. I was on zomorph originally but that was mostly for all the other pain from the car crash. I now suffer with insomnia. It’s getting me down. The quilt touching my feet, restless legs, the pain. It affects my whole body and leaves me completely beside myself unable to know what to do.
I’m 32 and have three young children and I’m trying desperately to be as best a mom to them as can be.
I struggle to walk far now, it’s like walking on glass. I also walk lopsided thanks to smashing my pelvis up so badly
Will this ever end?
Thank you for reading x

Does the gabapentin help?? I have pelvic floor dysfunction which is disabling sometimes and I don't like being on meds but I have to...I cope because my son who has OCD told me to just accept it as that's how he got over his OCD .. I also have a friend who has trigeminal neuralgia and he's working on a mind-body thing right now that he said will help a lot of people so stay in touch and I'll let you know what it is. . by the way I started my own chronic pain and illness group locally and it really helps
The gabapentin does take the edge off some days but never during the night.
Docs won’t give me anything to help me sleep. I’m mentally and physically exhausted. Knowing this will potentially be my life now.
I’m sorry to hear of your pelvic floor dysfunction according to all the consultants, I was VERY lucky to have not ended up with anything like that (they did think I was going to be paralysed on my left side though)
I truly hope you find some comfort. Well done on starting your own group!! X
Yep at least I have some normal days ...and I have muscle relaxers for sleeping....I work 2 days a. Week so I'm pretty functional....and I go to pelvic floor pt every week. Which is helping a lot ..I think my car accident two and a half years ago started this.... I'm so sorry you broke so many bones and got so much pain from it... I had a broken arm and some broken ribs but I'm pretty sure it started anxiety which caused this to happen.....they need to give you cyclobenzaprine muscle relaxer to sleep...one of the girls in my chronic pain takes methadone for pain ...so sorry we all have to go through this
Stay strong!!!! Pain no matter where can be both debilitating and feel all consuming. You Will get through this you just need to find what therapy, meds and specialists that works for you!!
I also suffer severe chronic pelvic pain, what works for me is a combination of slow release tramadol 100mg in morning and 100mg at night. I also take amitryptiline 50mg in morning and 75mg at night. Took me quite a while to get the best dosage for me.
You could consider seeing a specialist women's physiotherapist who is trained in pelvic conditions , I have been seeing mine for 4yrs now and I definitely benefit from the treatment.
I hope you feel better soon and I think there is no better therapy than friends and family to talk things through with you, to share the tears with and also to give you strength to carry on.
Thank you so much for your lovely response. Yes it certainly can take it’s toll.
I’m sorry you also suffer chronic pelvic pain
I’m going to push my doctors for more help, all I get are rubbish telephone consultations from a doctor who I don’t know! All he goes on about is ‘how addictive these meds are’
I’m almost in tears telling him it’s chronic, asking him to call my consultant up who would back me up in verification that this WILL most likely be for life now.
I’ve had zero physio, as soon as I could use a gutter frame I was left to my own devices!!!
