Beta blockers and cough

I was prescribed a beta blocker for high blood pressure and it works great for that as well as anxiety. However, I’ve developed a chronic cough that seems to be a side effect of blood pressure meds. It seems to trigger my mild asthma which is usually under control. Also I’ve had Raynauds episodes when cold., which I never experienced before. I’m thinking it’s because PBC affects the lungs. Anyone else having trouble with blood pressure meds?

sorry you're having trouble. Beta blockers can cause a cough. I take three blood pressure meds, including a beta blocker, but don't have a cough. Not all blood pressure meds cause a cough, as there are many different classes that work through different mechanisms. I suggest you ask your doc to switch you to a different class, like an ACE inhibitor, which does not cause cough.

I haven't heard of PBC effecting the lungs. I don't see why it would, but maybe something else is wrong as auto immune diseases can attack different organ systems.

Wishing you luck and hoping you make some demands of your health care providers.

It's very rare that pbc affects the lungs. More likely the meds. Talk with dr about switching
