Has anyone tried milk thistle to improve their LFTs? This has been recommended to me but I am not sure.

I have heard that although it benefits the liver it is not useful with PBC.

To add... I would say regardless of what literature say's always discuss the use of herbal remedies with your doctor. he will have the whole picture and herbal drugs might not be suitable.

I was told not to take Milk Thistle purely as my specialist said it would be a waste of my money.. I have heard others swear by it.

My specialist once told me that it is not just the drug we have to look at but what it is mixed with... ie the fillers that make the pill as these can sometimes cause problems for us if our livers are not able to tolerate certain things.

Under guidance and instruction from my health practitioner I take one teaspoon of organic pure milk thistle seeds in water each morning. I buy them as a kilo bag and use a coffee grinder to grind enough for a week. I feel they have helped my liver and my practitioner uses kinesiology to test my liver every 6 months. Along with the other supplements I take I have noticed an overall improvement in my health, skin, hair and energy levels and I haven't had a cold this year...well that's probably jinxed me now!!
