I need travel insurance for my family and m... - PBC Foundation
I need travel insurance for my family and my husband has type 2 diabetes, can you recommend a company who will cover this? I have PBC.
Try Norwich union direct, or age concern there screening questionaires ask few questions
Try Columbus Direct I had a very good travel insurace quote from them.
Use a search engine and find ones that let you list illnesses. Dont go to ones that they say they cover illness as they are very expensive. Trick is to read small print. Can't remember who I got last year but got a years cover for under £70. I have pbc/auto immune hep/ crest and sjogrens.
just a daft question but why do we need to get extra insurance with pbc.
Hi Donna.
Presume we apparently NEED extra insurance with having PBC just in case we turn up at an emergency room and they decide whatever you may have at the time is in any way connected with a 'dodgy liver'!
That is MY interpretation anyway!!
I have never yet been out of the UK and Mykonos, Greece is one place I've fancied for many many yrs. Just as it was possible I could afford to go - reason never gone before - the PBC arrived and I was checking out travel insurance last yr so I had some idea as never bought travel insurance before, ever and the daft prices that were being quoted, unbelivable.
The ones that screen you for this and that, well in my opinion, even if you go thru the PBC screen and answer what we would all know with PBC were the most favourable ones (ie have you or are you on the list for a liver transplant) to answer a definite 'no' to, can't see why it is screened as you still meet a dead end.
My son works in insurance and I will state which - Endsleigh - as apparently they don't screen like this. According to him (but as he says until you request a quote it's not 100% correct), they ask you about your condition and about the stability of it and the meds.
I have seen on another trust site (think Liver North) that Endsleigh did cover but can't tell you which newsletter online as in yr (they cover about 4yrs) and have to note that one insurance co. may cover you one yr but then they withdraw the following.
Don't know if the PBC Foundation has a list who may cover you nonnies but I do know that if you email the British Liver Trust they will email you a current list they have.
Worth a try as a lot are online quotes so no expensive telephoning just to enquire.
Thanks for the reply going to see the specialist on the 4th may so will wait to see what they say.Off to Cyprus the following week so just need to find out if insurance we got covers me.xx
I get travel insurance through my bank account with Lloyds TSB. They give a list of what you must disclose and PBC is not on the list.
Hope all goes well with your specialist and Cyprus x
