Hi everyone,

I mentioned that in some ways, my PBC diagnosis was a blessing in that it’s led me down a healthier path with better eating choices. I now enjoy various smoothies in the morning, not always, but often, and like to mix them up (no pun intended). I thought I’d share a few of my favorites. Hope you enjoy!

Beet Smoothie:

1/2 cup sliced beets (raw)

1 cup spinach leaves

1/2 fresh apple

4-5 large slices of fresh ginger

1/2 - 1 c frozen berries (I like either blueberries or raspberries. I've tried cherries, but those are too sweet for me.)

Juice of 1/2 to 1 lemon (I like it tart, so I use the whole lemon)

1/4 avocado

1 cup almond milk or water (I like almond milk)

Ice to preferred blended consistency

Purple Smoothie:

1/2 - 1 frozen banana

1/3 cup red cabbage

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional, but I like to add)

1 tsp chia seeds

Ice to preferred blended consistency

Liver Detox Green Smoothie:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/2 frozen banana

1/3 cup frozen pineapple

1/4 avocado

2 handfuls spinach or kale (I use spinach)

5-10 sprigs fresh cilantro or parsley (both are good, or you can leave out)

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1-2 scoops protein powder (optional, but I like to add)

Ice to preferred blended consistency

I'm also a big smoothie drinker and love my green juices. Thanks for the recipes.

My favorite is Wild blueberries, Sugar free Almond milk, Truvani Plant Base Protein (very clean ingredient protein) Almond butter and I always throw in spinach because you can never taste it in smoothies.

sound lovely!! What kind of blender do you use? I’m interested in trying this, but haven’t any more room in my little kitchen for anything on the sides! 😔

I use a Nutribullet rather than a full size blender. Works great!

I like the Beast blender, also not a full size blender but works like the name sounds!

This is great thank you so much! Question what kind of protein powder do you use? I’ve been thinking about adding this to my diet but wasn’t sure about plant based vs not? There are also ‘bad’ ones out there often containing heavy metals so I’m interested to know if you would recommend yours?

I use a vanilla whey protein from GNC. I read whey is a little better for diabetics like myself than plant protein, but I know many prefer plant based.
