Has anybody tried gabapentin as a nerve blocker for constant large joint/muscle pain? Thinking it may be less harmful than anything else….

I take Gabapentin as part of the treatment for the so called itch of PBC. Whilst I only take 2X300mg a day I have found it to be effective and has not impacted on my blood test results. I hope this helps.

I have Rheumatoid arthritis in addition to PBC. I have pain that wakes me at night so my Rheumatologist prescribed Gabapentin before bed. It has helped me with pain relief and has improved my sleep.

Gaspereaux,

I've been on Gabapentin 500 mg for several years to block nerve pain from arthritis in my neck area. I only take it at night since it can make you dizzy. It does help relax me so I can sleep (poor sleeper). My doctor said I can take up to 3500 mg but with everything else I'm on, I've decided to keep it on the lower side.

I wish you the best.

Hi, yes I take it at night. Was experiencing burning in my shins at night, told it was nerve pain and prescribed gabapentin. It eased the discomfort and helps with sleep.

Dose is one 300mg capsule and apart from feeling groggy first thing I've been fine.

I take Gabapentin and Sertraline in the evening before bed since they make me sleepy. I also have fibromyalgia in addition to PBC and arthritis in my neck. I was in a lot of pain before starting these meds. It does not affect my bloodwork.
