Hi Nancy,

Yes I do. Dr not sure if its pbc or medication. Personally I think its pbc because when I have a flare up of joint and muscular pain (at its worst) I get mouth ulcers and a funny rash round my neck. :-(

Hello Nancybeck123.

Interestingly though I do get a mouth ulcer from time to time and usually on my tongue, the cause of any I get is usually due to brushing the teeth and scraping the tongue.

Could it perhaps be this or is it due to the fact that with PBC we can be more prone to problems and the niggles with our bones and teeth?

I do get a sore mouth with white patches mostly it's my tongue but also the inside of my cheeks. I have had 2 lots of bloods done over the last 8 months and diagnosed as "probable pbc" but not prescribed any medication for it so its more likely that my mouth issues are related to pbc or some other health issue. I also have copd, osteoarthritis and lichen sclerosis. The latter two are also connected to autoimmune problems so I just put all difficulties I have down to the fact that my body doesn't seem to be very friendly to itself

Hello Eternallyoptimistic.

Your mouth could be thrush. I had thrush when I had my daughter many many years ago and I was feeding her myself. The thrush appeared as white patches in her mouth and went through her system. I managed to contract it in other parts of my body at the time.

Have you thought of picking your dentist's brains here?

Hi Peridot

Thanks for commenting on my problem. I have had thrush in the past and what I'm getting now is similar but I've had thrush treatments from both my dentist and doctor and this doesn't seem to help. I'm thinking its more to do with my lichen sclerosis which also attacks more private areas. I think maybe other pbc sufferers who get mouth sores might benefit from looking (or asking their doctor) about other auto immune deceases that affect the mouth rather than just looking at pbc and/or current medication. When I first got lichen sclerosis it appeared down below and I treat it like thrush for nearly 2 years very painful and canesten was never going to help. The doc prescribe dermavate which works brilliantly for me but obviously I can't use that on my mouth (tho I have been tempted on particularly bad days :)

I suffer from blood blisters on the roof of my mouth, sometimes they are just little red marks, other times they appear like a blister full of blood and i have to pop them.

Hi Nancybeck123

I get mouth ulcers from time to time which my dentist says is related to autoimmune disease.
