just got letter through to cancel my appoint ment for consultant cancelled next 1 is in october means that i have not seen him in a year so upset im really sore with my hips and back and so tires and the itch is driving me mad i feel as if no one cares we have no support groups or nurses for support dont know what to do sadie x

Give them a ring and see if they can fit you in any earlier. its worth a try.

A letter of complaint will get you much further and if that fails a further letter to your local health board. Hospitals and health professionals hate complaints. Dont take no for an answer.

Months prior to my diagnose in Dec 2010, I had my very first hospital consultant appt cancelled by the hospital. The new appt I got sent was only when I was on holiday, one that had been booked after I received the appt date date 3 months before.

Wasn't happy and hadn't a clue what was up with me even though I had started to feel much better with lifestyle changes in the preceding months and at the time I wasn't on any medication.

I rang the hospital up and explained and fortunately they managed to alter the appt to the following week. I could have had the diagnose a month earlier than I did had I have had the original hospital appt but that seems the way it can go with the NHS.

I have had a similar experience, maybe cause I've been diagnosed 15 yrs and relatively well controlled I only have yearly appointments anyway. Outpatients appts are being cut all the time and I have had 4 appts cancelled since oct 2011 and now not due to be seen til July 2013.

People do cancel so keep ringing the hospital, I also have an email address for my consultants secretary which has been useful as way of contact. Take care xx
