ok yall šŸ˜‚ I just did my 10th self injection into my thigh! This time a lump formed thatā€™s a little painfulā€¦but itā€™s not directly underneath the injection point! Itā€™s off to the side of it. Itā€™s not red or raised very high, but it hurts to touch. The center of it is about an inch away from the injection site. Any thoughts??šŸ¤”šŸ’©

This has happened to me when I used the sub~ cutaneous method of injection. I solved it by gently massaging the injection spot for a. couple of minutes immediately after injecting . Doesnā€™t happen if I use I.M. injection

Yup! I've decided I'm too fat as I get this every time I inject my fat tummy! Having tried both sub cut and IM all over, I've just gone back to IM in the upper arm cos for me that the easiest ā˜ŗļø.

I got my SI skills from here.... and looking at YT videos - perhaps you might share your SI technique? Not for criticism - just to share ideas with the wise owls i know we have in here.

A few pointers i picked up for SC mainly ..after getting bumps and sometimes bruises..

- use the finest / thinnest hypodermic needle you can get for the injection = 30G

- let the alcohol swabbed area fully dry...its the alcohol drying off effect that cleans the area

- dont " jab " hard - its slow steady "flow" movement - gentle firm flow.

- if you have enough of a fat layer - you dont need to "pinch up" the stomach flesh - and use 90 degrees angle - not 45 degree

- stretch the skin a little as you inject to get skin "recover" over the injection point

- dont inject too close to the site you used last time

- do a gentle with two (clean) fingertip massage of the injection site after the SI - 30 secs

- when you withdraw the needle - do that very slowly - making sure you use the same angle it went in. Otherwise the needle can be "angled out" if you dont take care - this was causing my tiny bruises...

Hope this helps a tad.

This happened to me. I applied liquid iodine to that swelling for several days and it went away

Double check that you get the air out of the dose before you inject.
