I’ve never heard that mentioned in 10 years on this forum . I would think it could be good for a feeling of well being and relaxation , but it would not be useful in treating Pernicious Anaemia . For that , sufficient b12 injections , a modest daily folic acid tablet( 200-400mcg) and a good balanced diet are needed . ,

i was wondering about it, not as a treatment, but if using one is positive or detrimental to PA

It would not be detrimental. But if it gives you a feeling of well-being to you , it’s a good idea .

I'm guessing as never had one.but I think the only drawback i can see wouid be dehydration

and BP lowering too much .

Benefit may be helping aching muscles and relaxation as mentioned by wedgewood.

It may distribute b12 via your injection quicker as dilation of blood vessels through heating your body woykd take place.

It may excrete toxins in sweat and b12??

All thoughts only .

I know diabetics should not have any sort of sauna or jacuzzi .

Probably as speeds up insulin and blood sugar drops use so could causes a hypo.

Also those with POTS shouldn't as could also pass out for a different reason ( lowered b. p)

'Hot' yoga can do the same.

Much of the radiation from the sun is IR, so spending time outdoors in daylight could possibly give a similar effect, especially in green areas because foliage reflects IR well.

Hi Dawn1015

There is little to zero evidence (studies) that indicate IR sauna helps with Pernicious Anemia. I do however use red light therapy, which involves exposure to low-level red or near-infrared light, which has been studied for various applications such as wound healing, pain relief, and reducing inflammation. I use it primarily to combat the chronic inflammation associated with autoimmune gastritis and other autoimmune diseases I have. Also use it, and massage, on my extremities for peripheral neuropathy as both help increase blood flow to the extremities, hands and feet, and we all know blood flow helps nerves heal.

That said, my thinking is IR as it's a deeper penetration would be beneficial in reducing inflammation. It's also known to be a great stress reliever. I'm not sure where you are located but like Palmier said some nice sun exposure is the best as it also helps with vitamin D one of the micronutrients those of us with PA/AIG have some trouble absorbing.

I would offer some references but they are little other than the ones who are selling IR devices. But here is a 2009 study you may be able to glean something from regarding health benefits.

"Conclusion: There is limited moderate evidence supporting FIRS efficacy in normalizing blood pressure and treating congestive heart failure; fair evidence, from a single study, supporting FIRS therapy in chronic pain; weak evidence, from a single study, supporting FIRS therapy in chronic fatigue syndrome; weak evidence, from a single study, supporting FIRS therapy for obesity; and consistent fair evidence to refute claims regarding the role of FIRSs in cholesterol reduction."

My personal opinion though is go for it. It will certainly make you feel good and relaxed. That is benefit enough.

Hope this helps, Rexz

Thanks for sharing. I have enough sun here now if I am vigilant. We have booths where I live and I might give it a go next year.

I kept getting notifications about grounding mats. I do a lot with grounding and always have. Barefoot etc. When I saw there was no scientific evidence I decided to try it. 🙂

Order it on Amazon USA and return it if it has no effect. Easier than study.

I have one in my home and use it several times a week with positive results. It was purchased to help remove toxins from my body as a result of prolonged exposure to mold. It is believed that the mold toxins contributed to the onset of my autoimmune issues including PA. It also has helped with the relief of stress and anxiety.
