26 days ago I posted about my shock at receiving a charge from customs. I made a reclaim based on that the B12 was for personal use and I received this reply:
"I am currently assessing your BOR286 refund request for your shipment of Vitamin B12 injectable Hydroxocobalamin. This shipment was declared under HS code 300490 - Pharmaceutical Products - Other by the exporting company which would incur a 20% VAT charge entering the UK as valued at over £135, I've also looked under HS Code 2936260 - Vitamin B12 and its derivatives but this also is liable to a 20% VAT charge on import. I have also been unable to identify a VAT relief scheme that covers your import. If you please let me know which scheme applies to your case I will process your refund as soon as possible."
A lovely letter full of promise but not very helpful!
A long shot I know but does anyone know which HS code enable me to have a refund of the VAT?

Wwwdot I suspect that even if you could find the code this would only raise other issues as there are agreements in place with the EU that mean pharmacies won't provide medicines that are prescription only to the UK without an prescription.
Before brexit the pharmacy would have been charging VAT on the supply locally at local rates - which for Germany were 21% I think - so it wouldn't have been obvious. However, as it was all dealt with at their end it wouldn't have been obvious.
I wonder if you could call or write to the pharmacy that sent it because it seems like maybe they put the wrong code in and maybe they could give you the correct code or maybe they could fix the situation by declaring it under some other kind of code?
Sorry this is happening. Maybe they could return it and the pharmacy can split it into two smaller orders and resend it? I ordered 184.00 shipped to the US and I didn't get charged extra. Maybe, the pharmacy made a mistake with yours? I would contact them. 🤞Goodluck

This was the only one besides Canada that shipped to the US. I couldn't find another one. But if you know of another one that would be wonderful. This is the only one, when I wrote to them, and ask them, that said yes. I had B12 brain back then and the translation was getting to be too much. So, once I find this one, I stopped looking. I don't remember the names of the other ones. There were at least two or three others that didn't ship to US.
