B12 def and itchy skin?
I experienced itching mostly on my legs. It was interment.
It has resolved.
I found the lotion Vaseline Intensive Care mitigated the issue and that the sooner I started applying it after the symptom manifestation the better.
I got red itchy rashes on my legs before I started my shots.
I believe it did in my case.
I had itching on my back in the area where there was a mole and I actually had the mole removed but the itching continued.
Then my low levels of B12 got picked up due to other symptoms and the itching went after some months of injections.
So I can’t be sure but I think it was the B12 deficiency.
Yes itchy skin caused by small fibre neuropathy. There is a research h paper I found when suffering from same. After antihistamines, experimenting with skin and cleaning products, and food experimenting saw dermatologist and neurologist and given gabapentin decided instead to start self-injecting. The "placebo effect" worked a treat. Itching returned when I bought a dud box of b12 injections ( £90 down the drain).
Yes, at least that's what I think. I was diag. August of this year and I've noticed that my skin itches all the time. I've read on numerous sites that anemia causes skin to itch and I find myself scratching quite a bit. Occasionally I'll scratch, but I've learned to try to get by with simply rubbing if I can, otherwise, I'll end up with very scratched skin all over. Anyway, I've come to realize that when I'm in the grocery store my head would start to itch when I was near the cold sections of the store, so I started wearing a beany type cap when I'm in the store and also now at home as well as if my head gets too cold it makes me itch as well as makes me sneeze like crazy. I feel like a cancer patient sometimes always wearing a hat. Maybe not much of a difference. I also believe I have RA as well as it is often a hitchhiker on anemia people. Hope this helps a little. Good luck to you and Godbless.
