Regulating speed of healing

This has only become an issue with injecting 4+ times a day with two injections of B12 1 mg in a solution of 1mg/ml. Prior to that my body was starving for B12 which is a very different experience. The experience was a using up my B12 roller coaster. I inject two different forms in each injection and take 6 mg SL adenasoylcobalamin each injection.

For 8 weeks I walked 5K on the week-end. I experienced weekly improvement. Which was thrilling. However I did need about three days of intense recovery. I changed to 3K usually daily and walked up a few hills and then fully recovered walking on the flats. I regulate the effort by how many hills with recovery I do which I determine by how I feel when walking. The main criteria is to not exert to the point where I need to recover. Improvement has been steady.

I walk along the shore of a lake to get reflected sun.

I due to sourcing delays tried a trial of only methylcobalamin. This felt like I was healing to fast and my body was in distress trying to keep up. I went back to the two forms and things leveled out in about three days. An upper limit of healing just as the 5K was.

I thought when I started injecting 3 times a day and started more consistent improvement that the cause was simply more B12. Frequency played a large part concluded from my trials. Which is currently not considered as a factor. I expect in error.

So I bought myself some orange roses to celebrate. Now I am practicing willful ignorance and not trying to improve my understanding by designing a new trial. No idea how long this period of willful ignorance will last and am OK with that. I right now am tired of all this work. I also need to process my loss of starving my body of B12. That I needed to do the trials as the current treatment of B12 is inadequate for my body is a reason. That I suffered unnecessarily due to starving my body for B12 even after my diagnosis still needs to be grieved.

I do not understand the concept of do what works. For whatever reason it does not resonate with me. I now have an upper limit of exercise and injecting as well as a lower limit which is 3 injections a day. I will in the future fudge in what is best knowing what is best is only for a short time period as my body is healing as I self treat.

I decided to inject if I wake up in the middle of the night which results in 5 injections in a 24 hour period as I inject 4 + hours apart. This seems to have resulted in my sleeping through the night although never a goal for me.

PA is permanent as determined by those that do not know how to treat my PA successfully. Does not mean they are incorrect only that they may not be. Heretic that I am I admit I do not know, I do allow no one else does either.

Hi Wiz

Another thought provoking and insightful post.

As you know, I am following your recovery keenly and you are an inspirational guidance in my recovery plan.

I have improved beyond belief this last year as a consequence I believe of following your path albeit in my own footsteps.

My B12 consultant is amazed at my rate of recovery and in just under a year I have migrated from 106 ng/L and barely able to think or function to now being at almost full throttle most days as is my nature 🤪😁

I have gone from EOD Hydroxocobalamin 1500 ug to every day as I could not cope with the good day, bad day scenario. Good improvement as no down days - I achieved a function plateau but I was still unable to cope with changes in energy pace.

Then I added a range of supplements and I started to cope better with the variations in life but still very aware of B12 ebbs and flows and still unable to find extra energy and recovery from busy periods took days.

I then decided to add Bcomplex sublingual and increase to twice a day morning and night. To my surprise I began to get a recurrence of reversing symptoms so increased tinnitus, shoulder ache, headaches, teeth ache and painful finger joints. This occurred around 2 -3 pm daily. But I began sleeping through the night!

So I decided to increase to 3 times a day SI and I stopped getting the 2-3pm symptoms but I kept forgetting to take mid-afternoon and so many time I felt unwell at 4-5pm as I had forgotten to do the afternoon B12. My body was screaming for it, headache, teeth aching etc. So today I set an alarm on my phone for 6 hours after my morning SI. I I injected when the alarm went off and I got through the busy day without a headache or achy teeth etc.

Just about to do 3rd SI of the day before I turn in. I think my body too is accelerating its healing and giving me more energy but I must be more receptive to when it is calling for B12. Too often I think “I have a headache, I feel unwell - must be coming down with something” … then I realise it’s a couple of hours past my B12 jab! Like magic, within an hour I am back on track!!!

Thank you Wiz for being so generous in the sharing of your experiences. I shall be forever grateful.

🤗🤗🤗

That is cool. I like the concept that I have a path. I thought I was stumbling along haphazardly in an unknown land. Well I have been at times. 🙂 I sure have not been following any path laid out by others except for the first 3 months after knowing I was B12 Deficient.

Thank you for the kind words.

I am experiencing what I call my late afternoon fade. I rest and sometimes sleep and then come around quickly for the evening and sleep well. I don't have it completely worked out and am not even working on it right now other than to observe and note. It does not feel like I have used up my B12 rather I have used up my body's ability to heal.

I do still have a one day off day. I suspect it may be I can push more on the days I eat three meals a day and then skip eating out of habit.

Maybe you need to set up alarms that go off every day to remind yourself. Very happy to hear you are feeling better!
