good morning everyone

I wonder if you can advice please. I have a bad dose of shingles and I have also had lots of stress since my last B12 injections.

on Saturday night I felt dreadful like I did when the doctor refused to give me my B12 for my pernicious anaemia but the strange think was my blood pressure kept going up to over 200/90. I was really scared and rang 111 and of course I got someone who hadn’t a clue about B12 deficiency. I suffer slightly with hypertension so took an extra pill. My blood pressure is ok again now but I have cracked lips, sore tongue, shaking and muscle aches. I’m due my injection this Thursday thank goodness.

Thank you for listening. X

I imagine you used up your b12 and needed a b12 injection sooner.I find stress eats up B12.

I've had Shingles twice in the past unrelated to b12 deficiency.

Both times associated with being run down ( 2 jobs) and alot of emotional stress .

( friend terminal diagnosis )

Even then I decided to take vitamin supplements to try snd boost my immune system. Vitamin c especially.

Your autonomic system csn get disturbed with low b12.

Are your folate, iron/ ferritin and vit d levels okay?

thank you for taking time to reply.

I had my routine bloods done in October and all ok except for my B12 but of course I don’t think doctors look farther than the obvious medical problems like deficiency.

I have the lovely nurse giving me my B12 injection on Thursday so I’ll run things past her then. I really appreciate this advice. Hope you are well. Best wishes.

How miserable for you I had shingles earlier this year and have to say I felt so lathargic Icould barely move a muscle. I tend to get when run down and have had it three times now. The blistery rash drove me nuts with the pricking sensations and itching. We are at our lowest when our B 12 is due hence the outbreak.

I hope you feel better soon.

thank you Jillymo for your kind words and I’m so sorry you have had shingles too especially three times. Like you say being run down makes us even more susceptible to letting viruses get us and depleting our B12 even more. Very best wishes.

I have empathy towards anyone who gets shingles.

I had it in January on my left shoulder area - and spent several weeks of misery as many do, including pericarditis and a close call with a skin infection, and have since had (and still have) postherpetic neuralgia.

Aciclovir to start, Zapain, amitriptyline (which made my mouth so dry, and caused such tiredness I had to stop).

Thank you so much for taking time to reply.

It must have been dreadful for you having shingles to such a dreadful degree. I was advised not to have Aciclovir because of my heart problems and hypertension.

I really feel miserable with shingles and didn’t know grey could make you this poorly.

All the very best for Christmas and the new year. X

I’m so sorry I wrote an earlier reply but didn’t press reply x

I just thank some sort of supernatural spirit that it didn't affect face/eyes, etc. People suffer far worse from it.

No worry at all about delayed reply. :-)

Gosh - it really is almost Christmas. Did some very ordinary food shopping today and couldn't believe how busy it was! Hasn't been until now - and icy weather probably put off morning shoppers.

All the best to you too!
