Yes , Medisave supply the needle you need for a sub-cutaneous injection It is

30G x 1/2 inch

Yes you need a long coarse needle to withdraw the B12 from the ampoule . say -21G x 1 1/2 inch needle

You can use a blunt-ended needle also . As obtainable at Medisave .

I don't use a separate needle for withdrawing.

I prefer 27G x 1/2" , slightly thicker, because it takes forever to draw out the b12 with a 30G lol.

As I use B12 single use ampoules , it’s best to use a longer coarser needle to draw up the B12 . (21G x 1 1/2 inch) —- It’s so easy to touch the glass ampoule when drawing up. especially when trying to get the last drops of B12 . This makes the needle blunt ,which leads to a painful injection, so best avoided . I like to inject slowly , so a fine injection needle suits me .

So for I.M 25G x 1inch — for sub-cut 30 G x 1\2 inch

I also use single use ampoules and do hit the edge but haven't noticed any pain when injecting SC. Only the usual b12 sting depending on the spot. I do switch needles for IM.

I do subcutaneous and the needle is 25G x 5/8 inch (.5mm x 16mm). The needles come attached to 3 ml syringes.

B12 comes in little individual bottles, 1,000mcg, with a rubber cap. I use the same needle as for injection to withdraw B12 from the little individual bottles. The needle is able to easily pierce the rubber tops on the bottles.

we don’t use those multi-dose vials in U.K. .We use single use ampoules which are considered safer because of the danger of contamination . So we don’t use those syringes with a needle attached.
