Oops, I've made a mistake injecting today.

Basically, I got into a bit of a muddle and I injected:

- mid section of thigh

- but towards inside thigh NOT the recommended outside thigh

- used 30g needle for subcutaneous, but did it at 90degree angle as 45degrees hurts.

I have a heaviness in the area which has never happened before. I also get a curious sharp sensation in my tummy, around the area I did the injection weeks ago. Which is a bit confusing.

Any idea if I've done myself an injury or should prepare for a visit to A&E?

I've also noticed that when I've used alcohol wipes to clean the injection site. The injection is ok, but when I press cotton wool on the site after the injection. It stings alot. In contrast not using alcohol wipes is a far easier and painless experience. Any thoughts?

Thank you all.

That’s fine to inject subcutaneously into the mid section of your thigh with the 30G x1/2 inch needle .

You inject into the outer middle of the thigh for intramuscular injections with the 25G x 1 inch needle .( It’s the Vastus Lateralis muscle -look it up on the internet)

You really don’t need to use the alcohol swabs when you inject . So as it seems to cause you a problem. I would not bother . I have no explanation as to why it stings when you press the cotton wool pad on the injection site .
