Low cortisol

Hi all,

Apart from PA I have suspected chronic pancreatitis with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency confirmed.

I have suffered with the effects of complex post traumatic disorder from a prolonged trauma in teens.

The past 14 months have been pretty horrifc with a ptsd flare. I developed an ear infection then chronic sinusitis with tinnitus in my left ear at exactly the same time the ptsd started impacting my life.

I recently had my cortisol checked, at my request, and it had a reading of 108 nmg with the lowest range marker being 119.

The gastroenterologist said it was notable but also could be a reflection of the time of day the test was taken ie not first thing.

I understand that cortisol fluctuates quite easily and that a low reading doesnt denote deficiency.

Are there any implications regarding PA or anything I might want to explore?

I don't think it is Addison's as the reading is not low enough, not that you could know from one reading, and I am more prone to higher blood pressure rather than low.

To be honest, I am starting to think that the ptsd has been constantly running the body these past 25+ years. Cortisol affects our inflammation response and I think that all my organic issues are caused by inflammation. I am pretty sure my sinuses get worse when the ptsd is bad and the opposite on a good day.

Perhaps get more bloods done. As many investigations as possible.

If inflammation markers high it affects s sorts of blood readings.

I had an ear pressure test done.

As tinnitus drives me up the walk some days.

It was normal????

Tinnitus is a sign nerve signals confused I think 🤔

My head often feels like a pressure cooker

I am not medically qualified but I do feel there may be a connection with all of these issues. The gut brain axis is well understood and may be contributing to what’s going on here. Have you thought about counselling or mindfulness?
