Effect of stress on symptoms

Hi everyone.🙂

In the last 2 years I noticed that my symptoms (which I believe were due to PA) were worse after a stressful/emotional day.

I've only recently been diagnosed with PA and am receiving the loading doses currently, and am wondering if stress might affect the amount of times I'll need to inject going forward.

Has anyone had similar experiences, where stress made their symptoms worse?

Has anyone needed to inject more during stressful times?

Thanks!

For Jillymo

Yes it horrid. My pain is mostly in my head .

Deep aching hips are me up and tense irate had and scalp.

Yesterday. Day after injection .

Leaden legs.

Nausea

Balance off

Pain behind my eyes

Tinnitus

Very noise sensitive

Better when very still dark and quiet.

A blast from the past. But it used to send me onto the bed needing to be alone.

Yesterday coincided with granddaughter here.

So with painkillers. Careful head movements like and often food.

Fortunately ' got through'

I'm tired of getting through!!

To bed very early ro avoid lights and any noises.

2 years ago this was every day.

So as you say progress / respite .

I've had a difficult week.

Week before best for a very long time.

Walked a little further.

Tinnitus down a notch

Managed to watch a little TV.

Still cabtvread a book

But can write a letter on paper.

Takes forever but s good improvement.

Even had a 'wet cut ' at the hairdressers

Bit cold arriving with wet hair but speeds it up snd o way could I have it washed .

A trust exercise as eyes firmly shut when tinted glasses and hat off.

Lights !!

Let's hope a yhjbg if the past in time.

Written thus in the wrong place.

Oh well .....another day

Definitely is a

For AndreaUk

Definitely. Always escalates my symptoms.

Same with a common cold or anything on top.

Sometimes having an extra injection can help.

Otherwise for me it's 'opting out' retreating

I can also relate to this.

I have got to go to the hospital on Monday and just the thought of it is stressing me out - hence the wretched symptoms are worse.

It's such early days for you as yet but most on here use there own judgement on how often to inject. My Dr put me on 3monthly injections which wasn't nearly enough.

They need to realise that we are all different.

Hi AndreaUK,

Stress can be both emotional and physiological/biological (so, things like exercise even if it’s gardening, missing meals due to poor appetite/busy, a late night because you can actually socialise now. Queen time (aka puberty, periods, pregnancy, postnatal, menopause).

When we are emotionally stressed, it affects our body as we hold ourselves differently. We are more tense, (particularly jaw, shoulders etc). Our breathing rate can incrementally change which is usually totally unnoticeable.

So, yes from a metabolic perspective, of course, it may be necessary for us to need more B12.

Yes, I inject more frequently, when I’ve pushed my body. I meditate twice a day so, am pretty chilled and the word NO comes out of my mouth quite a lot. 😉

Definitely. Both mental and physical stress means I have to take more B12. It's funny how people always think stress is all in the mind when really it produces more symptoms in the body. B12d made me very anxious and stressed out. Now, on the surface, my anxiety has gone but deep down it is still there. When I get stressed I get a niggling back pain. Which goes away if I meditate. I feel well physically. I exercise and walk regularly. But if I really push myself physically some slight symptoms of B12B return. I start losing my sense of balance. And can't spell. Luckily I take oral B12 and just top myself up.

Yes. Ironically, this means I am usually worse after a medical appointment. I did read that stress can actually cause b12 and other nutritional deficiencies as it affect stomach acid levels. Just had a perfectly normal endo and colonoscopy, yet I've had two long bouts of macrocytic anemia and now have neuro symptoms. Scratching my head and wondering if stress has been the culprit? I know there are other issues that can cause it and will explore, but am keeping it in mind.

Not what you're looking for?
