70% pre injection Wipes

I have been using these religiously now for months one before and a new one immediately after I SI with zero issues at all.

Apparently now this is no longer required and the WHO study suggests that it is no more effective at reducing potential infection than not wiping.

I think think this is debatable and would it be OK to ask if you could say whether you use them or not as I intend to continue to.

Thank you again

Yes i uses them. I can't remember where I've put body lotion.

Or if a cat brushed past me .

I also uses it to hold down for a couple of seconds after injection.

The nurses don't use them most of the time .

I do.

Do what you are comfortable with

Yes, the WHO does say that.

These are no longer used in the NHS for blood draws or prior to injection. GP surgery doesn’t use them. The spirit base can make injections sting . A research study involving children showed that where alcohol wipes were used, the pain from the injection was greater and lasted for longer. Other research shows no negative effects (in terms of infection) when not using wipes.

I don’t use them. Clean skin is all that’s required.

Hi, No, I don't use them. I inject just after my shower so I'm nice and clean anyway. Saves a few quid - I am Scottish after all ! 😉

Scientist, not medic, not microbiologist either.

I was brought up to use them and did so religiously. Then I learned that vets don't use them it's believed they increased the risk of skin infection.

A few years ago, there was a story about samples taken for blood alcohol levels, in police stations... I believe some folks 'got off' because of the possibility of sample contamination. [This may be apocryphal.]

My GP surgery doesn't use them either.

If it makes you feel better, go ahead!

I don't use them, I do use new needles, even though I told my GP I retrieve used ones from around the bus station! I just wanted to see her face.

I'd like to see her face also 😳

I understood it wasn’t necessary, so I don’t use them. I haven’t experienced any problems, but I do make sure I wash my hands and wipe the surface of the table with an antibacterial wipe before placing anything on it. I also wipe the vial before snapping as shown in an Australian Video I watched. Take care. All the best
