ADVICE APPRECIATED PLEASE ON FUNGAL INFECTION

so, about 3 years ago after doing a half marathon, i lost 3 toe nails on my left foot. they soon grew back but the beginning of last year I was aware they my big toenail was starting to look discoloured and I figured it was because I was constantly putting varnish on. Before I knew it, my nail became fragile and the other nails became thick. In August, I noticed a rash on my ankle and over the last year it spread around my ankle. I have also noticed a rash around my groin area but put this down to a sweat rash as I do alot of spinning classes. The doctor has prescribed Terbinafine but I am worried about the potential side effects. I dont want to damage my internal organs but also I am worried that this rash doesnt seem to be dispersing. When I work out, I find it itches and subsequently when I get hot at night in bed, I scratch. Its a vicious circle :(

There are tablets for this . Talk to tiur doctor or pharmacist. White vinegar giid for . feet . Again there are preparations you paint on.

Reduce sugar intake abd try bio natural yoghurt.

Did you have this before PA /b12 deficiency?

There are powders for it which are topical...and cremas..I have never found the tabkets worked...is it the ones where you only have to take one and it all goes away? They never worked for me. Avoid all sugar and simple carbs first at least too weeks even fruit... Potassium oermangenate footbaths are an olden days remedy just be carefil to dilute them throw your shoes out and away and buy new shoes. Boil wash your clothes and dry them in the sunshine. Boost your immune system wjtb zinc vitimin c and vitimin d ... Buy a pair of leather insoled sandles... Buy a pair of merino wool runners geiswein in Germany do a basic pair but if you're a runner who loves your Nike's they won't do thwyre very basic. You will have to buy two pairs of runners and never use the sane pair two days in a row. Let them dry and leave them in the sun as much as you can. I used to tie mmy laces and hang them out the window from the latch. ..

This it totally my own invention but since women with thrush use a tampon with yoghirt on it ..I used to slather my feet in yoghurt leave it on like a facial for my feet and then shower it away without soap. The idea being that the yoghurt bacteria kill the other bacteria that are getting ahead of themsleves. I also used to put it in my bathwated. I have no idea if it worked but it made sense to my simple minthat if it could work in a Lady part it would work on my toes.

You have to wash and treat your feet 100% without forgetting a day every day twice a day and change your socks every single day and change your shoes so you never wear the same pair for two days in a row. If you mess up and stick on yesterday's socks and forget a morning wash and wear yesterdays shoes and there still funky you can slip back to square one in no time.

You need to have your feet in sunshine as much as you can and in the air. Air sun. Dry.

And topical creams work but you must use them as directed and not forget a dose and then you have to change your habits for life. Otherwise it just comes back time and time again year after year. No matter what strong turbo killing tablets you take if you fail to keeo the good hygein it comes back.

Leather and nerino wool or meriono wool insoles are great. they hold water though but they have an antimicrobial thing going on. The merino never ever gets funky. But if you don't change shoes regularly the spores can just stay in yoir shoes waiting for the right conditions ... If I was doing it again I would have bought more shoes and thrown them away more when I was treating it. So while I was treating it I should have bought two pairs of cheap shoes and when the treatment had got rid of it throwthose away and got two more new pairs and kept them good.

It sucks. But if you do it right and keep doing it right long after you think its probably gone you should be good. Don't do what I did which was rely on the tablets think oh that's gone now and then be lazy about it over and over like a silly bugger lol .

Hi there. I cannot thank you enough for firstly taking time time to reply, but secondly to give me so many options. If I am honest, I would never have taken the tablets but get to the point with the cream where I need to be more strict. So, for example, today, I used the cream the doctor prescribed and tonight I lathered my foot in tea tree oil!!! I think I need to understand that this is a long term thing and unless I stick to it, its never gonna get better. Regarding the sugar, I gave up refined sugar two years ago when I went on a Keto diet. I eat berries and nuts every day but have had to limit those because it is so easy to get my sugar rush from there. I also get what you said about the natural yogurt. Whilst in Indonesia my niece got badly burnt and the pharmacist said Natural yogurt is the best for most things......even the ones you mentioned! I do tend to use different trainers for different work outs, so I have ones for high impact that I do 3 times a week, but not necessarily in consecutive days, I have spinning shoes, again spread out over a few days and then some for weight training if I am not bare foot. When the weather gets better, I will definately get my feet out. I feel really embarrassed to show them off just now, so hoping we have a good summer and I can let the sun do its magic. I will, for sure, take on board everything you have said and will leave updates

Cool you are doing lots of things right already! Can you wash your runners in vinegar? Or borax? They sound like expensive ones and probably have them nicely broken in. If you can get any merino felt and make an insole it really is amazinf for repelling bacteria. Here's the other thing. If the doctor didn't do a swab and culture the foot yuvkiness it may not be fungal at all. And in that case antifungal will have some impact kn bacteria but you can alsk get bacteria. I bought a UV light to find cat wee and we found we had a red glowing between our toes me and one of my kids (weirdly the one with the stinkiest shoes didn't have it) I can't remember the name of it now. Potassium permanganate which I may have already mentioned will kill bacteria as well. I would say if you're using the cream don't mix and match. Don't skip a dose and use a different approach try one approach fully and diligently and when it looks cleared up keep going diligently beyond that for a couple of weeks. Because the creams are something like antibiotics that if you don't kill the whole lot of them the ones who survive can become resistant.. So the sloppy approach make things worse. You can use other things as well as but don't miss a dose. You know how in yoir mouth bacteria and fungus the cells can reproduce every 12 hours so you should brush twice a day? Well its very likr that with feet. So if you miss one brushing of the teeth by the end of the day you have regrown a new generation of fellows ... So you want to kill the new generations before they have babies. They also create a biofilm where they are inside your flesh basically like bacteria hiding in the gums and so when you're applying something you are only killing those who are on the outer edge of the colony. So you have to keep pushing like an army relentlessly pushes on a boirder fortress. It is like a siege. You must leave no room for them to sneak out and get supplies or reload their weapons ... Because they are relentless and they can double in 12 hours you have to think on the scale of your enemy. They're working much faster than you because they're so small.

And under the nail is the most difficult because you can't get cream under your nails.so a nail can take six months to grow completely out from the bed ...that is why they prescribed oral tablets because the oral tablets will put the disinfectant agent into your bloodstream when it CAN get under the nail. And even with oral it can take time. And often the blood supply isn't great ..(same for gums and teeth) so increasing the blood flow will help your natural immune system to keep a flow of antibodies and wbc cleaning up. Never let your feet become cold sitting around. Hot and cold footbaths can be helpful there. If you are doing a soak morning and night after the hot plunge them into some cold water. Massaging towards the heart as well gets the lymph moving which removes the desd waste of the infection.

It is a lot of work to get rid of things naturally. Ive never had it under my nails and it was a lot of work to get on top of it. My aunt had it under her nails and it was there for years! If I saw some setting up under my nails I would nuke it. I'm dead against unnessisary medications but knowing how difficult it is to be strict with even the flesh situation I would throw everything available at it. Nuke it with the tablets and do all the other stuff as well. Because once it sets in under there its like a well you can't reach and the fungus is always waiting to spring forth from that well to reinfect you. It damages the nail bed separates it from the toe leaving even bigger space it takes its toll on your immune system and so I'd seriously think about using every weapon available. If you are confident that you can do the long siege approach and keep it up relentlessly for as long as it might take which could be years then go for it. But if you have a nuke available which could shorten the battle to a month or so I'd take that option. You don't really need fungus in your system apart from perhaps some wild yeasts which help control blood sugars and you could recolonate your gut with those by eating probiotics very very easily after you took the tablets. Whereas you're looking down a road of recurrence unless you're really really dillegent for what may be a long time. But there are risks of medications so to avoid that is worth the battle. And I like to think of most lf my symptoms as little signs of my health. If you keep your fungus and don't take medications then it will be a reminder to take extra good care of yourself. When it goes away by your own actions you knlw you are on the right track. Your immune system is working well. And that's a good thing to improve for so many other reasons. Whereas the tablets may nuke it and it could still come back becuase your immune system isn't strong etc. So the outcome of doing it yourself will be a healthier system all around but a lot more work. I hope it goes quickly away and never comes back for you. I have cured my boys foot before from a serious looking infection on his toenail which was bacterial so we used Manukau honey. Not good for fungal I'm afraid. But it was so satisfying when it went away at last. And he didn't have to take antibiotics which would destroy so much to revah one little toenail. Best of luck and may you be victorious in battle!
