A salutary reminder!

Hi,

On Christmas Eve I started feeling hideously tired, then that night started getting awful muscle and joint pain to go with the fatigue. Didn't feel better the next day, and worried I might be coming down with Covid. That night I decided to do a B12 injection as I had missed the last one. I usually inject roughly once a week but have perhaps let it slide a little recently due to Covid stress/Christmas etc. Within a few hours I felt much much better!!!

What a doughnut I am. It served as a reminder NOT to get lazy about doing the injections, and that I really do need them. After doing injections for 3 years or so I had kind of forgotten how dreadful I feel without them. It's not all in my head!!

Goodness yes. We must listen to our bodies. I came downstairs and was off balance and although have never had a symptom free day balance has improved greatly.

I decided to do my b12 a day earlier than usual. On writing it fown realised it was the due day so not early at all.

I inject every 6th day at present.

Nackapan, wonderful to hear about your improvements with balance

And in case you are not noticing, I have seen tremendous improvements in your writing/typing. That is wonderful. Not sure if that means any improvement in your light sensitivity? I am hopeful for you.

For me word-finding and totally missing words in a sentence has been ongoing, but definite improvements.

No still affected greatly by artificial lights unfortunately also tv and reading a book sets off horrid symptoms.

So a no no. Have tried a few 2 min slots as zoom the only way to connect with my family at present.

Glad my typing improved !

Vision still a problem with text disappearing from the right?

I'm glad word finding for you is improving

I really want to walk further or cycle.

I tried again tecently and didnt feel weak.

Unfortunately it set off awful head symptoms on return which lasted 4 hours and were pretty scary. I felt a bit silly for trying as now is not the time to end up in hospital.

So odd as felt fine whilst actually cycling. I love it .

If you dont mind saying how often do you need b12 injections at present ?

I'm still trialling every 6th day for months now. Previously 2 weekly for a year.

Take care

P.s I've also found the edit button lol

I inject anywhere from once to twice a week Nackapan. And my theory that my needs are based on activity level is probably bang on. I am fairly active but have been sitting and laying around due to the black ice bike wipeout (very little mobility) and am way off schedule. I am not seeing many repercussions.

I got back on my bike tonight. It hurt where I am injured but simple discomfort, not the jarring pain of the fall. Looks like I got in just before the freezing rain.

Your P.S. is priceless. Laughing. I live for the edit button!

Like me 'you get back on the horse'In our case bike

I measured the distance that made me have horrible head symptoms

Only 1 mile. Nothing on a bike but more than I've done in over 2 years

I supposes the discipline is looking forward not back .

Comparisons are upsetting and not productive.

Hooe you less achy from your fall soon.

I've seen photos of where my friend lived in Canada. Not great cycling weather. T C

I also seem to vary with activity level. Low but steady at present.

I'm finding a change in diet to address high cholesterol depleting more energy . Itz not a drastic change as just having less but boy does my body know it.

Cant win at times .

It is not great cycling weather here in Toronto right now, but I do it regardless. Hence the crash! I will go if it is -2 celcius and above for exercise. But will do colder if I am simply doing a close errand.

The bike has been a Godsend, I could bike when walking was and is difficult with b12 deficiency. Even before I knew what was going on. And looking back I used to miss the pedal sometimes and drop sandals suddenly. I thought wow that is weird. I now know that was definite foot drop beginning to show up.

Discipline has brought rewards. In the beginning when the b12 deficiency was "taking my body" so to speak I could only do 1/3 of my normal route. Even when I started injections if I got in a good ride I would be down for the count for a good two to three days. Somewhere around the year mark things changed and I could do more and more. And not have me down for the count as much.

No we can't compare ourselves to others Nackapan, so true. Too frustrating.

And I got back on the bike tonight. Can't walk much due to injury but bike only hurt a bit.

So happy you are riding. Hope the issues dissipate.

Curlygal, sorry to take your thread off topic!

Yrs took me 2 years to get back on my bike . I've ridden a bike since I was 4 . And as transport as no car. Also no good comparing to what we used to be able to do.

Good to hear you on the mend after fall.

I think on topic still curygal. I think listening to our bodies not so good if we go on autopilot.

Also I used to believe

'Where theres a will theres a way'

Not so sure now.

As your will can be strong bot body still unwilling.

But like you say if the b12 injectio ns working so well for you now dont knock your routine.

A reminder . You had quite a shock.

TC all.

Oh, it's astonishing how the right frequency of injections affects our lives, right? And on the other hand how a delay can bring one to misery. That's why I am back to injections on every other day. I agree, it's about listening to our bodies and acting accordingly. For me, it became a matter of discipline which now determines daily life because my injection timetable is always on my mind. I wonder if that will change somewhere in the future.

No, it's not all in your head. Good to hear that you didn't catch Covid.

Thanks for the reminder. I am at least four days off. I had a wipeout on my bike, hit some black ice so since I am not moving/exercising I didn't remember to inject. But maybe that is the point, I might need the higher frequency only when my activity level is high. Not while I am nursing an injury.

I think my activity had been higher than usual because I had been running around doing Christmas things. I checked and it was 8 days since last injection, usually I do every 6 days.
