Has anyone tried introducing buckwheat into their diet I’m reading some good stuff about it just now and like the fact it’s gluten free.x

My daughter has alot of it.

Buchehear pasta can be bought cheaply from supermarkets. Beyyer cold thsn warm as csn be rubbery if cooked s se ond too long

I use the flour it to make cookies. She uses it for pancakes.

Not so good in bread. I use strong gluten free white flour.

H and B expensive. You can get bigger bags . Doves and other makes which are more cost effective.

It's also low in FODMAPs.

For the last just Over two weeks I’ve stopped most carbs No bread no pasta no crisps no potatoes and increased walking etc and ive lost quite a bit of weight 12st 2 down to 11st 9 . I’m hoping this continues at a steady pace but do miss my morning toast so that’s one of the reasons I was looking at buckwheat.

Buckwheat pancakes are good for breakfast.

Potatoes are full of goodness and a good form of carbohydrate.

I know in theory you then burn fat as energy. Be careful though with any drastic measures .

One of my friends did no carbs. to the extreme and produced ketones to burn fat. I'm convinced this made her ill. She got pancreatitis.

Its great you losing weight if you want to Just go slowly. Sorry if I'm being a kill joy but youve alot going on. Dont try and do everything at once!

It’s Ok Nackapan I’m being careful don’t worry I’m just not pigging like I was ive cut right down so I’m eating as healthy as I can but in a more measured way.

I wish lol I’m in U.K. and so far haven’t been able to find any.usually my breakfast was the easiest meal of the day for me,toast and butter with my banana chopped on it for the potassium so I’m misssing that routine it’s not the same just eating the banana.Hubby bought me some little tubs of those quick porridge breakfasts but I miss my toast, I’ll keep searching Many thanks.

It’s not buckwheat related but I’m also cutting down on some carbs and have discovered lentil pasta, it’s delicious! :)

I eat quite a bit of buckwheat noodles to replace pasta and such. Lowers my salt etc. I buy mine at an Asian grocer but some of the best are actually imported organic Australian. Fill me up on a smaller serving.

Sounds good it’s my blood sugar I’m working on as diagnosed pre diabetic so I want to try and reverse that and eat healthier at the same time,I have really been bad since lockdown any excuse to eat rubbish and of course I ate all the wrong things and piled the weight on which hurt my knees and gave me more excuses not to exercise properly,time for change.thankyou.

Just make sure you read the labels. Not all products are created equal. Know what an actual serving size is and what the value of the food is. Some things have 1200mg of sodium for no good reason whatsoever. Some have hidden sugar. Some strip all the B vitamins and are basically empty calories.

Just some food for thought. Always better to get your nutrients from food, if possible. Hope this helps in some small way.🍀💭🧠😘

Oh I totally agree. Its if you can absorb them.

I used to take for granted my good diet would be absorbed.

Buckwheat is a gift to mankind. Easy to grow at home, makes a great border plant to most any garden. The tiny white flowers are gorgeous and prized in Korea as “love bouquets”. The seed hull is the filling of my neck roll/ pillow that I’ve used for decades. I’m sure there are many more uses for the plant. Dr William Davis’ “Wheat Belly” lifestyle offers support and guidance for a life free of grains and added sugars, after seven years on that dietary system I still miss toasted/charred bread but the benefits of foregoing bread are too numerous to return to grains. I credit Wheat Belly with restoring my A1C numbers to a normal level during my pre-diabetic scare.

The Wheat Belly presence on the Internet is significant if you want to avoid any book expense. I’ve never looked at any of the books, just followed information on their blog. We all gain our information in different ways, what ever works for you is best.

Thank you .There’s no expense involved in downloading the samples from amazon to kindle it helps me decide if it’s a book I’d like to continue reading.X
