Hi, I get my b12 injections every 2 months, I can't wait to get my injections, it gives me a kind of buzz, I feel great more energy, although I have to admit it only last a few days, but honestly I feel a lot better after getting my b12 injection. I know some of you guys don't get that benefit as I do. I get my injections done by a district nurse in my house and she is great. I wish you guys all the best, take care..
B12 rules in my world...: Hi, I get my... - Pernicious Anaemi...
B12 rules in my world...
You are lucky that you can conform to the set-in-stone rules regarding treatment with B12 injections. I need injections much more often to be able to function, so I am forced to self-inject , as many member do on this forum . We are all working to the time when B12 deficient and Pernicious Anaemia patients get the treatment they need . An extremely uphill task . But great to hear that you are keeping so well . Best wishes .
Glad to hear you get a buzz from this. Even for a few days.
I've only previously ever heard that from a metabolics consultant before, who told me that he understood that B12 self-injecting can be "euphoric": I told him that this may well be true for those who self-inject with B12 and don't actually need it, but for those who do, it is just a desperate attempt to maintain some normality. Hoping he got the message.
I have now been trying, since Jan 2015, to get back what I once had, who I once was.
Like Wedgewood, I have reluctantly had to resort to self-injecting because the frequency offered by the NHS does not help me. If not, I would be unemployed, and probably alone !
I would love to stop self-injecting, but can't afford to.
Not until research shows that there is a reason why some of us need far more B12 than others : PAS has, until recently, been involved with this research. There is a reason. I'm hoping that you won't need a PA diagnosis to benefit from the results of this research - assuming that it continues post-pandemic. I don't have a PA diagnosis. I was once diagnosed as having functional B12 deficiency, which has no specific treatment regime.
In my experience, frequent injections stop deterioration.
Perhaps that's just me but I doubt it.
I'm still waiting for a day with no symptoms - and it's been over 5 years now.
Hoping.
