PRIVATE B12 INJECTION
Doctors refusing to reduce from 10-8 ... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Doctors refusing to reduce from 10-8 weeks for injection. Can you have the injections privately anywhere SAFELY but not self injected?
Yes just see a private Gp
You can see a private GP who will give you an injection. Just google it. Avoid health spa type places. A private GP will charge you about 70£ for one injection. I do my own very safely for about 1£ which covers the cost of the syringe, needles, swab etc.
I was hoping to avoid a private GP as if they are of the same opinion as my and many GP's they would refuse to do it. I was looking more at a clinic type place who do as they are asked for a reasonable fee. Would not be happy to self inject.
The private GPS I know of are happy to do it. The clinic type places may not employ medical type staff and I’d be more concerned about getting an injection from them. Maybe someone else here can advise something from their experience.
I'm in the states and I've had injections at spas. They are called "med spas" here and there is usually a Dr on staff and injections are given by qualified medical professionals. I've also had injections at a naturopathic clinic where they do vitamin and nutrient IVs but also provide primary care. Injections are done by qualified medical professionals. I was paying $20 USD at the naturopath but I just do injections myself now as it's far cheaper and more convenient .
Hi I'm in the states as well. Can you tell me how do you get the injections that you do yourself? Is it a prescription or can I simply order them online?
Hello! I've been ordering from place that's been mentioned on this site. It's in BC. buy-otc.com
No prescription needed as it's apparently otc in Canada. They are prompt with delivery (I'm on the west coast so not far from BC). I have ordered several times from them and I have had no issues.
For syringes, the best deal I've found is Costco. I have to ask the pharmacist and give ID as they are behind counter, but no rx needed. I get a box of #100 for around $12. Walgreens is about $20. I use a 1ml insulin syringe that's 1/2".
the biggest issue I'm having with all of it is needle disposal. There are several options and I'm still working out the most cost effective strategy in that.
Ok thanks! I'm going to give it a try. As far as needle disposal goes is that something that's regulated by law? Or are you just being cautious in general? Sorry if those are stupid questions I just honestly don't know.
No worries! Not stupid questions at all.
I *think* that sharps disposal is regulated by state. It is illegal for me to put a used needle in the trash. They must be in proper containers and then given to proper disposal people. Sometimes there are community drop off events where it's free. Unfortunately, you may end up spending sone time digging into what is available and required in your area. Pharmacists may have some tips. Also, tap into the diabetic community as they may have ideas.
I'm not sure where you live but I know Havey Nichols have a therapy department called Reviv in London and Liverpool and they provide B12. Its administered by a nurse and cost is £29.
I tried this before I started to self inject, however like the previous person said it's still expensive compared to the £1 I now pay.
Self injection is scary however for me not as scary as the symptoms I was having daily.
Good Luck ❤
Depending where you live there are different options.
I used a private GP but they wanted a blood test after 6 shots which would have been costly.
Beauty clinics do them. I saw one in Nottingham but was 75 pounds.
Holts vitB12 clinic on FB is one of a series of clinics run by franchise. Lots in Essex, this one was in Stamford. Reputable and underwritten by a GP so all legit. Price is on sliding scale dep how many you want.
I've seen cheaper ones elsewhere. Just a case of getting good value. If I only needed one a month this is probably what I'd do too!
Can you find a friend to help you?
When I first started to need extra injections I got my occupational health department at work to do it. I also know a few nurses who helped me out at times and taught me to self inject.
Why would anybody pay some 'beautician' (or, even worse, an -opath) £30 for a B12 injection when they can do it themselves for about a pound?
I don't know about in the UK, but here it's always a Dr., nurse, med asst, etc who is giving injections. A beautician wouldn't qualify to do so. One must be licensed here to do that.
The reason I was willing to pay to have it done is simply that I wasn't ready to inject myself. I know medically trained people that could help me but that next step was also ordering and trusting the injectables. It's all a process. Having it done by a pro to start was helpful for me. But of course I think about all the money I could have saved doing it myself all that time! I
When my son felt he might need some B12, I instructed him to have a few done at the clinic before self injecting to be sure he tolerates it well and to watch the nurse do it. Now he does it at home with no issues.
