I'm new to this. Been worried about my health for a few months. Getting tireder and more lethargic all the time. Cramps , backache, numb feet, balance problems, etc. Diagnosed with pernicious anaema and have had 2 injections but still very tired. I would love to hear from others in the same position

The good news is that your treatment has begun.
It takes time and does not go in a linear line.
Hope you on a good regime and have an understanding doctor.
Hope you feeling a bit better soon.
Thank you.
Hang in there, when I first started with B12 injections I was at the point where I thought I was dying. It took many weeks before I felt that I was making any improvement. While I have a long way to go, at least I'm moving in the right direction and I hope and pray that you will experience likewise. Also, please don't be discourage if you seem to get worse at first as repair begins. There may also be times when you feel better but then the symptoms grow worse for a while. It really is a roller coaster ride of sorts.
With your numb feet it sounds like you have neuro issues. NICE guidelines say every other day injections until no further improvement. Hope that you are able to get all that you need to get better. (For a short while I had to inject every day. Now I'm down to every other day since I have a lot neuro issues that need repair.)
Best to you!
Thank you
It does take time, it took me about 6 months (and an addition of iron tablets) to start feeling better. Even still a few weeks before my injections I start to get a more tired, headaches etc and I've had them for 4 years now.
Wish you the best of luck with it. Look after yourself and listen to your body and I hope you'll feel the benefit soon.
Thankyou
Thank you all for responding. It's good to know I'm not alone, but I wish nobody had to go through this. I'm very lucky that my doctor thought to check my vitamin 12 level. I thought it was a magnesium/potassium imbalance, because of the cramps and tiredness. He diagnosed periferal neuropathy at first, then did another blood test. My injections are only once a week for 4 weeks at first. He said probably 3 to 6 months then, for the rest of my life.
Hi WillyTown. I would flag up with your GP the protocol for neurological symptoms with B12 deficiency/PA ...... that is B12 injections every other day until no further improvement, as per the NICE, NHS guidelines.
I have neurological symptoms, namely tremors and have had injections every other day for over a year -infact have had them daily for the last three months as my tremors worsened on the day I wasnt having an injection. Daily jabs stopped the drop back and continues the imptovement. Whilst am not fully recovered I have made huge improvements that my GP can see.
I chose to self inject -subcut method which my GP has supported -saves them money on the nurses time which is the bulk of the cost of a B12 injections.
Hi willy town, you've come to the right place. So much info on this site ..it won't make you well but gives you a feeling of not being on your own or going mad xx hope you get some peace of mind and stay strong x
