Some nerve damage is permanent. Martin Hooper still has problems after many years.

Then there is the possibility that it is not caused by a B12 deficiency. Have you been seen by a neurologist.

These are the two reasons why the recommendation is for every other day injections until there is no further improvement. Some people will n very improve, even with such frequent injections.

Do you need that high a frequency to keep other symptoms at bay?

Sorry to hear that. I've read here that some people take years before improvement stops, so I wouldn't slow down if I were you. Address other issues too, like Folate supplementation, general diet and exercise (to the extent that's safe) as well.

18 months in I still have slight finger numbness, ms hug, and occasional nerve firing sensations in my legs. I saw significant improvement from where I was with injections over the first 6 months though. Everyone is different.

Great reply, to which I can add I'm still getting nerve and cognitive repair after 4+ years of daily SI!

As you say, the supporting supplements - a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement plus extra folate, potassium, magnesium and maybe iron and vitamin D - are just as important as the jabs and quite high levels of potassium (be careful with minerals though) are required for nerve repair and function. Magnesium works with potassium which makes that important too.

Like folate, iron and vitamin D are needed for the B12 to work properly and can produce similar deficiency symptoms themselves.

Most people are fine with folic acid but I need methylfolate and others do better on folinic acid so it might be worth considering that too.

Good point, my D was low the last test as well.
