Hello everyone

What is your blood pressure on waking? Do you have a monitor to measure it?
I wonder if your blood sugar is low on waking if you feel better for eating? Have you had this tested?
Hi Jan
When I woke up it was 80/47. Heart beat 64. After I eating and moving it was 98/68. I do have a monitor. I will also have to check for my sugar levels next time it happens.
I tested 3 times with the bp monitor and it was the same. I’ve always had low blood pressure but never dizziness and lightheadedness
The doctor here in my hometown says it’s nothing to worry about but I contacted a doctor in England and he said to check my adrenal glands
I do also have dips in my sugar if I don’t eat for long periods of time
If you haven’t eaten in a long time it’s probably normal for your blood sugar to drop. So maybe more regular food could be a big help.
My blood pressure tends to be low and I find that keeping well hydrated helps, especially if I add in a little salt.
It sounds like good advice to have your adrenals checked?
How is your thyroid? Oftentimes, thyroid issues like Hashimoto's and low thyroid function can cause low BP.
Last time I checked my thyroid was normal thank god.
But I think since I’m getting my tests done again I will ask for test to include thyroid
Thank you Ellie
You are welcome! You may want to ask them to check for Thyroid Peroxidase and Thyroglobulin antibodies. My thyroid function tests came back as "normal" but my antibodies were elevated which indicated Hashimoto's. Turns out that many with Hashimoto's have PA/B12d, they often go hand in hand.
There is a very good group here on HealthUnlocked called Thyroid UK. A lot of knowledgeable people there who can answer many questions that you may have regarding thyroid health, whether now or in the future.
Best to you!
What multivitamin are you taking?
How much folic acid are you taking?
Unfortunately I’m not taking anything. Last I checked my folic acid was good. Pls keep in mind that I had a baby 10 months ago also
Have you had a standing bp done to check how quickly it drops? Clenching calve muscles and drinking eater before you move helps if your blood vessels dilating. Have you read up on POTS. Do get plenty of fluids. Small regular meals. . I was too hot and also needed more food . I actually collapsed (first time ever) I'm sure it was a combination of things including low blood sugar dehydration tiredness and weakness as b12 defiency not known.
So make yourself eat and drink regularly . I normally do but was distracted. You can make your own hydration drinks as suguested.
Interesting ! I do feel if I have a heavy dinner that when I wake my bp is lower. But I don’t have to be out of bed to feel it. I already know while I am lying down cause I feel my pulse is weak. If I move while In bed I can feel it without having gotten up.
Do you mean that when I feel it in the morning that I should stand up and test my bp ?
If you’re on regular B12 injections, you will use up minerals and metals and supplements help with those. You can get some from food like banana.
I’m thinking folic acid will support baby as well if you are breastfeeding. It is a balance with folic acid so take what you can tolerate but not more than 5 mg per day. Having the folic acid in your system helps process off any extra homocysteine, which contributes to neurological damage.
Also, what is the weather and temperature by you? I find if I get hot, blood vessels dilate and blood pressure drops.
Thank you so much for your time and effort. I will definitely look into your suggestions
It is boiling !!!!!! To say the least !! I find it very difficult to leave the house as I feel faint .. so I minimize going out .. hopefully by end of September it will get cooler
Have you tried lemonade made with salt? The extra electrolytes helps you sweat to keep cool but you need to drink plenty of water to keep from dehydrating.
Hopefully it cools down soon. I’ve lived both in Saudi Arabia since being diagnosed and noticed issues with excessive heat.
I was up a ladder last Friday working on a tree around mid-day and the temperature here was in the high 80s (deg F) and all of a sudden I thought, this is not safe as I must have felt slightly light headed. So I came down and put the ladder away. I can do that sort of work in the evening.
However I continued to work outside and almost came down with heat stroke. I was sweating a lot and drinking and couldn’t seem to get cooler and was very light headed. I finally just sat in front of a fan and it took about an hour to get back to normal.
It was a bit scary at the time.
Hope you can stay cool.
Seems like exactly what happens to me .. wow ! What a small world. So you have lived in Saudi ? Riyadh / Jeddah ?
How did you find it ?
