Body Temperature Regulation

So I was thinking back to earlier in the year prior to my b12d diagnosis (159) when I went from my home state of Florida (very wet) to Arizona (very dry). I was out there a whole week and the whole time I had a terrible time with my body temperature. I could never get warm even though it was nice outside. Everybody else was fine and I was wearing crazy layers. At one point I had like 5 pairs of socks on. Had no idea what was going on. Even back in my home state I'd get home from work and get a hot shower going and stay in it for a while because I felt cold.

I'm having to head back out to Arizona for work here soon and I'm nervous I'll be in the same position as before. I've only been supplementing orally and with injections for 3 months with very very slow improvement (almost hard to notice). Has anybody else has experience with this?

You probably have an endocrine problem, and should get your thyroid checked out. I also find it difficult to regulate my body temperature, often feeling cold at rest, then too hot as soon as I start to exercise.

Yeah, I'm always cold. I wear 2 sweaters in the office, but it's crazy AC here. I don't have endocrine problems, but I've never got to the point of wearing 5 socks (2 yeah!). I was told by an endocrinologist that I was lacking salts because of my diet, I began adding salt but nothing changed. My case is not as extreme as yours, so I would defenitively go to the doctor. I do think that my body is not in balance because of the lack of B12, so maybe the cold thing has to do with it: but not everything is PAs fault! You could be missing another problem, hopefully easily fixable. Good luck!

I was always cold before my low B12 diagnosis. I used to be constantly turning up the heating, and my husband would be feeling it was far too hot. Even in summer I wore several layers of clothing. Thankfully things are much better now, but it does sometimes take a while for you to reach the full benefit of getting injections. You are still in the early stages of treatment, so take some extra clothing in case.

Ps I meant to say, get your thyroid checked out too! The two conditions often come along together, as in my case.

Had my thyroid checked multiple times and everything has always come back fine

Temp regulation could be down to b12d. I'm the same. Thyroid tested all OK. Always feel the cold. It's summer here and I'm freezing.

Yes I'm self Injecting eod since June 16th. I remember being at a Hull City match about four years ago everyone else was in normal clothes. I had two of everything on. That was before I knew what was going on.

If a person is on hormones; it can affect the thyroid testing.

Just go through menopause! Then you can be too hot one minute and too cold the next!

I agree with the comments re thyroid. I have an under active one and when the levels are wrong I get cold on hot days... occasional I get so cold I have to have a really hot bath just to “reset” my body temp... My baseline body temp is usually 36.1 degrees which is at the lower end of that range. So suggest getting your TSH, T4 and t3 levels tested.

I became like this when I was Hypothyroid and didn't know it! Might pay to have Full Thyroid panel done as well as antibody test.
