RBC folate

Littledancingtiger profile image

So after all my dramas with folic acid I had my RBC folate levels tested and they look good?! Think I’ll stop fretting!

1200.86 out of range 285.40-1474.70

I had heard this was a more accurate test so fingers crossed.

Oh I'm glad one thing sorted Emily cj I'm awaiting blood test results. Although vit D alert on screen by nurse when I had my injection yesterday but it's been lower. Upped my supplement though. Still on a roller coaster like you. My arms are sore with the needed every other day Injections at present. I hope to be able to drive soon , watch TV and see better. All theseems things we take for granted. I'm making myself do very short walks . The fatigue is bad but I try and remember this is an improvement. Last headache yesterday only lasted a few hours and there had been a week in between. I think it's human nature when you have a reasonable day you just want it to continue. I've still resisted all the antidepressants the doctors want me to try. On a reasonable day I'm bright and smiling . I don't want to mask the B12 improvements so I know when no further improvements . I've a neurology appt. In February when I shall ask about light sensitivity and lingering symptoms. My weight loss has plateaued which is good as getting too thin despite all the good food I'm eating. Mind is bright body unwilling. I wish you more better days than bad.

Be interesting what my bloods say now. I still don't think I've megoblastic aneamia but even with a print off I don't know how it appears on the results. Anyone know?

If you have megaloblastic anaemia then your red blood cells will be larger than normal. The size of the red cells will be given as the Mean Cell Volume (MCV) on your results. Anything above about 96 fL counts as large.

Right so look for mcv. Last bloods showed well below that. I remember now . Must write it down!! Just a mystery why I'm not absorbing as back on injections improvements are happening very slowly. Intrinsic antibody test negative but I'm aware can be wrong. I don't suppose it matters as long as getting g right treatment. I do like facts and reasons though. Really I'm making sure nothing gets missed to get better.

Thank you

I really hope you continue to get improvements. It’s just awful watching and waiting and checking everything.
