B12 self injecting

I have a friend who has B12 injections from gp but not as often as she says she needs them. She has bought some injections from abroad and is going to use these to top up between gp injections. Do you think this is OK as I do not know if this is safe.

Sylvia22, it is certainly safe . Many of us on this forum self-inject , because we are in the same boat as your friend . We usually buy our ampoules of vitamin B12 from online pharmacies in Germany . We buy the same sort of B12 that is used here in UK , namely Hydroxocobalamin . We get needles , syringes and and alcohol swabs from Medisave.uk

You can watch utube videos on self-injection some are good some not .

I think that it’s great that you are concerned about your friend . You are a wonderful friend .to have !!! If she needs help and encouragement , tell her to come back here !! Best wishes to you both .

Most people with pernicious anemia have to self inject to keep themselves healthy and well, myself included. Unfortunately there is not enough knowledge/funding or understanding from lots of gps. It’s perfectly safe and your friend would be very unwell if she didn’t look after her own health

Thank you very much for posting your concerns on here - by finding out how it really is shows you are a true friend - I'm very impressed.

I'd be dead if I didn't do what she is doing.

Over the years I have done over a thousand jabs myself which I have bought online in this way which has meant that not only am I alive but I am also well enough to work enough to keep my house and independence.

Please support and encourage your friend in every way you can - you will make her life so much more worth living and may in fact save her life.

Read up all the useful information on here that you can and suggest that she might find taking a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement plus extra folate, potassium, magnesium and iron, at least in her diet, all help to make the extra B12 work properly.

Friends like you are like gold dust because it can be a lonely world with B12 deficiency without the support and knowledge that she should be getting from her Dr but can't because the system fails us.

PS I also belong to a PA/B12 deficiency support group on Facebook and know that there are literally hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands, of us between the two forums who are safely self injecting and some people have been doing so for decades.

As long as they’re from a reputable reliable source then it’s completely safe.

Many people here get them from Versandapo, a well established German company. Some use goldpharma.

I myself use Versandapo and inject once every 2 weeks.
