Please can someone help me - i now have a new doctor as of today and he wants me to take amlodipine for high blood pressure - i tols him that i had had high blood pressure for years and that i thought it was thyroid related - he said no it was not - is this medication safe to take as he says it will make me swell - feel sick and get headaches - i told him i already do get them, but he insists on me taking them. I appreciate any help and hope i have posted in the right place. Thank you.
New Doctor - starting me on amlodipin... - Pernicious Anaemi...
New Doctor - starting me on amlodipine tablets for blood pressure.
Two suggestions:
Ask the doctor why he has prescribed that type of drug, rather than something else that may not have those side effects. Ask if you can swap to something else if you do get those side effects (not everybody will get all of them).
Try posting on the high blood pressure forum of HU.
But you really should take something to lower your BP, assuming you’ve tried the normal lifestyle changes. Hypertension really is a silent killer.
Thank you for the reply fbirder. I do not drink i do not smoke i do not have bad food - i only have very healthy food and i make my own soups and do not eat meat or poultry - i do have a small amount of fish - i do not have any dairy or takeaways - so i do not know what to do as regards diet - i also have pernicious anemia and Vitamin D deficiency and my eye sight is suffering now as i cannot stand bright sunshine or lights - hope you are keeping well.
