I'm thinking of getting a flu jab this year now I've been diagnosed with PA... Just wondering if that's a good idea or not... My PA was caused by my autoimmune system.. Any advice would be much appreciated ☺... Thanks
Flu jab..... : I'm thinking of getting... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Flu jab.....
I had mine on Monday and I've had P.A. for more than 45 years and I'm still "clivealive" and over 75.
Thanks Eaoz ☺... I agree 👍.. Onwards and upwards ☺... All the best..... ☺
Ahh... Thanks for that ☺.. Knowledge is truly a wonderful thing.. Just hope my immune system doesn't attack the flu jab 😔.... Lol. . 😁...
Shows you what I know 😕... Well I hope it doesn't make me feel too bad while it's checking it out.. I know it's not a live vaccine.. But I've heard some people get a reaction 😱.. Thanks again for the knowledge ☺ ☺
I'm with you Marz i dont want any additional mercury in my body I have enough in my fillings to account for health problems. Before people label others as 'Anti' it is wise to clue up on the dangers of the vaccines and there are plenty. Vaccines contain all sorts of nasties, mercury for one.
Have a look at Guillian Barre Syndrome although rare apparently can be caused by flu vaccine. We had a case at our surgery and it is not a large surgery. Just makes you think?
I've booked my flu jab this year, and so have my daughters. I do understand, and respect, why some people feel that having the jab is a risk that they are not prepared to take.
The first time that I had it, I thought long and hard about if I really wanted it. But, the risks of the jab, although real, are far less than the risks of getting complications from the flu. Even healthy people can die from it or have serious complications. It isn't just a bad cold, it will have you feeling like death and unable to function properly for weeks.
My main reason for having it is because my daughter has Cystic Fibrosis. If I take the flu home to her, there is a very real possibility that she will become seriously ill or die. I am more than willing to take the minute risk that the vaccine holds over being partly responsible for her getting sick. My husband, however, refuses to have the jab, and I respect his decision.
At the end of the day, it is a personal choice that only you can make, but make it an informed one, looking at the pros and cons of both sides of the argument. I'm a nurse, and in over 30 years, I've never seen a serious problem following a flu jab, but I have seen many, many people become seriously ill from the flu, some dying from complications.
I'm probably going to get lynched now, but I felt a balanced view was needed.
I get mine since 2002 every year and haven't had real flu during winter month since.
Freaces55 thanks for reminding me to get the flu jab. Now that I self inject I don't go to the medical centre so no nurse to remind me and drag me in protesting for my flu jab. Lol. I have also got the pneumonia jab twice over five years as I have asthma and COPD and since getting the first pneumonia injection I have never got pneumonia TG.
It's never a good idea to have a flu jab, if your only concern is personal protection.
Flu jabs rely on a large number of people taking them to provide "herd immunity" i.e. measure of protection to those who are not immune.
I don't bother and just hope that enough people take up the jab to break up chains of infection (and help me avoid the contact with infectious individuals).
Being retired and not having to share office space with "heroes" who come to work despite being infected helps as well
I don't have a compromised immune system, but I just had both my B12 shot and a flu shot yesterday and I feel great.
