methylfolate

My last question of the day. I promise. When and how much folate to add to make sure the B12 injections do their job, please. My folate wasn't that low, but i understand it will be depleted with the B12 injections. I have 1 mL methylfolate tablets but that doesn't seem very high. Thank you in advance!

Hmmm I dud not know it would get depleted that way. Curious to read the responses!

presume you mean 1mg tablets - that is quite a high dose.

like all B12 people vary quite a lot - generally 200-400mcg a day is sufficient for most people - I take more - don't use methylfolate just folic acid.

Yup, like Gambit62 says, 200 to 400 ug a day should be OK. And, for the vast majority of the population, folic acid is just as good as methylfolate.

I have read on HU that folic acid is not anywhere near as well-utilised by the body as folate.
