I use an alcohol swab to clean the top of the multidose vial, before I put the needle into it, each time I use it.

Hi Chocolate41, when I used the multi dose vial I cleaned it with alcohol. But then I had several pharmacists tell me that the B12 can go bad or not a potent before you had the chance to use it all up, Sooooo, I switched to the single dose vials. Just a thought, have a wonderful day!

I don't know what to do now there are so many conflicting reports!

The new ampoules that Hugo has just bought according to the insructions you have to draw them up in the syringe and leave them there until you want to use them!

So you will have 4 syringes laying around as you can't leave them in the ampoule.

Has any one else read about this?

I would love to hear what you all have to say.

Regards

4 filled syringes lying around? Multi-use vials with potentially grotty tops?

It all sounds too much hassle and risk for me. I'll stick with single-dose ampoules.

Yes I know you are right.

Where do you get your single dose ampoules from fbird?

I use hydroxocobalamin from versandapo.de

You can clean the top of a multi-dose vial with an alcohol swab.

There are risks to using ampoules too. It is theoretically possible to draw up tiny particles of glass which may fall into the B12 when you snap the neck of the ampoule, and which may then provoke an immune response if they don't actually block the needle and are subsequently injected. It's probably a remote risk, but you can buy 18 gauge needles for drawing up which have a fine filter in them to prevent this problem.
