Can you provide your blood test results with the ranges (numbers in brackets) if you are very low and have been ill for a ling time it makes sense that the 'magic' is going to take time too.

Do you know why you are deficient? If it is due to PA or other absorption issues then ordinary tablets won't really help as you need either injections or sublingual lozenges to bypass the stomach. Nothing will happen in two days though. I used sublingual b12 lozenges for about 8 weeks before self injecting. They made a huge difference but I ended up taking 10x5000mcg a day. I've just started receiving injections from my GP, he doesn't know I've been self injecting and the consultant he has spoken to said that on average people don't start to feel any better for at least 2 weeks and even then it will take 6-12 months to get the best you are going to get.

Sounds like you have some neurological symptoms too and if you've been ill for a long time some of that may be permanent. It is for me. 2 days is nothing, give it time. Providing you are on appropriate supplements and don't have a problem at cellular level then you should start to feel something over the coming weeks. Maybe srart keeping a log of symptoms, you may not be aware of some slight changes. We all react differently though. Good luck. :-)

Great support. It's members like you guys that make this forum work. Everything you said is spot on. It does take time for the injections to start to work (there is no miracle cure unfortunately). We are lucky here in Australia that you can buy B12 over the counter. I get my wife to inject me whenever necessary although I have managed to self-inject twice now. It's much easier for someone else to do it if you can in my experience.

Thanks

You say thyroid is normal, but it often isn't as doctors don't understand the thyroid too well. What where the results? With the ranges too. Thyroid disease and low b12 often go hand in hand. You could put the results on the thyroid forum to get an interpretation. For example, most people don't feel well unless their tsh is 1 or under, yet doctors can say it's 'normal' upto 10!

If you do have a problem with your thyroid it generally leads to low or no stomach acid leading to poor absorption of nutrients and consequently low b12. As well as digestion problems. Look at the thyroid forum for more information. :-)

what was your b12 level everyone on here will ask you that and there are lots far more experienced than me if you don't know ask your gps receptionist also ask for the levels of all the other blood tests you have had done its so important as normal is not always normal as l have srarted to find out, if your body has been depleted for a very long time then it will take a while to get a good level back up it took me about 3-4 months but l still have bad days its not a miracle cure its very much a daily thing but please post levels and you will get so much more help on here

If you have low B12, you should have had a test for the antibodies to the Intrinsic Factor. Although this test is unreliable, it is a first step in trying to find out if your low B12 is a result of P.A. If it is negative you could still have P.A. There is scientific literature about this. There are also more reliable tests for P.A. I have P.A. And only injections work for me.

Nausea could be caused by tummy problems . P.A. Patients have low or no stomach acid. Start to address this with a good probiotic ,like Symprove. Or organic raw sauerkraut (you can make your own) This will improve the flora in your stomach.
