Well we are now into chasing after sinamet after finding mum deterioration due to, her drug being swapped unbeknown to us! Turns out been giving mum a generic replacement and stopped having any affect. Became frozen unable to move swollen legs to the extreme. Anyone else had similar??? Also what's with the severe lack of parkinsons nurses?? Only one full time and one part time for the whole of torbay in South Devon UK. Unnecessary suffering caused by government funding cuts.

There should be no difference between Sinemet and generic. If symptoms are worse then somehow you need to talk to a medical professional.

Well there is a difference and it can and does make a huge difference to some one who has had parkinsons for over 25 years! Perhaps a read of the true facts from qualified professionals would be a good idea for you to try. Happy reading☺

The operative words in your comment are "should be". Many people here have reported differences from different manufacturers of what "should be" identical generic medications.

My neurologist AND the pharmacist have both told me they have a lot of people tell them they can tell a difference in different manufacturers. They said it is required that the main/active ingredients should be the same but other ingredients can be different. In my case, the generic works better for me? This has happened twice and the first time it took me a month or so to realize express scripts had sent me a different mfg'd pill. It was a different color but I didn't think that much about it until my symptoms started getting worse. This was several years ago. The same thing happened last month & I looked at the mfg and it was the same scenario as before. I called the doctor & pharmacist again & they told me the same thing, but the pharmacist said they are on backorder until Feb or Mar. I called the mfg. and they told me it will be Apr before they can fill the backorders. So...story to be continued in April.

My doctor told me the same thing. Inactive ingredients in different generic sinimet can affect absorption of levodopa. I had a problem with one brand of generic not working well.

OMG I had the same experience--not with Sinemet, with something completely unrelated, but still--I thought I was nuts. What's that about? Where is the quality control with generics???

I thought I was nuts the first time it happened to me! Funny thing with me, the generic works better for me?

Before having "Parki" used to work at a doctors as receptionist, the drugs are as doctors says but are cheaper, it's all about money. When I was diagnosed with PD I was given Ropinarole a while after this my surgery ask if I would have a cheaper drug which I did, one night fell like nothing on earth shall not go into detail, but ended up in hospital, my hubby did a test he put Ropinarole in a glass of water also the other drug, Ropinarole dissolved after few hours the other tablet was still in a solid lump. Spoke to PD nurse she told me go back to the real ropinirole I have had no problems since. What is annoying is that on my PX the surgery have written patient preferred this drug, I am saving the surgery money as it cost a lot more if you have to stay in hospital for the night,
