Eyes
Eyes and PD medications blood pressure meds yes I experience vision problems and just had a scary moment last week with optic migrane...diagnosed by Retina specialist. Severe dry eye seems to be worse on Escitolopram 5 mg the generic of Lexapro. I weaned off that last week. Now taking Forteo a parathyroid hormone bone density drug and too early to tell but seems dry eyes are better. First injection yesterday. Rytary and Neupro 4mg Lisinipril 5mg Isradipine 5mg are other meds.
Hi Maxwell,
I have been experiencing problems with my eyes off & on over the last 10yrs. Having a fantastic support network I have eye checks every 6 months when any new symptoms are analysed. The results of previous tests are discussed in relation to my age, weight & medical conditions: PD & heart failure. I am on 17 meds a day now & over time it has become apparent that some meds (either on their own or in certain combinations) do cause eye irritability with swelling, redness of the eyes & surrounding tissue.
Without wishing to teach Granny new tricks I must mention the tendency when one has a life-changing condition such as PD to lay every symptom at its door. Eyes change shape with age. There may be allergies & food intolerances which affect the eyes or other conditions such as glaucoma.
To answer your question: yes damage to the eyes resulting from sudden changes of meds happen quite frequently.
