My mother just started using this medication on last Wednesday and her head movements have really increased. Does anyone know if this is normal with this medication to start

This may be dyskinesias.

What was your mother on before starting on Rytary?

What was the pre-Rytary dose and times and what is the Rytary dose and times?

Do the head movements vary during the drug cycle?

Has your mother tried going back to the previous drug regimen?

JohntPM,

She was on Sinemet long term and short term at 7am 11 am and 3 pm and 1/2 long term at 7 pm. The Rytary is 7,11am,3 and 7pm not sure of the dose. She's having BP drops to 90/40 then becomes dizzy and needs help walking. The head movements vary no rhymn or reason. I was going to tell assisted living to stop it but I read you shouldn't stop it cold turkey. I'm calling her neurologist today!

She is on the Rytary along with the Sinemet, taken at same times a Sinemet. The Rytary dosage is 48.75 mg.

He's gone for the week at a conference but the ER contacted him and he told them not to change anything on her meds yet.

I found that the dose had to be cut by half and I needed 4 dose vs 3 per day. Work it out with the DOC.

My husband was on sinemet 25/100 2 pills 6x day. His neurologist movement speciaalist decided rytary wpuld be a great change. It turned out horrible. His tremors incresed. He stopped talking his gate and balance declined he had a very hard time walking...he then started hallucinations and psychosis and severe anxiety. They then put him on three pills lexapro mirtazapine and clonazapam. He became. Zombie. It was. Pitiful. I had them stop the meds and the rytary. His pcp put him back on sinemet but one pill 3x day and that was his dose until i lost him my love 5/5. I was constantly onbthe drs. If it doesnt feel right or look right to you...take action. Be the voice and advocat. Sending prayers and positive thoughts.

Sounds like my mom's latest experiences. She has low BP drops and can just fall asleep while doing normal tasks. She fell asleep while mixing up her keifer and flax seed and it spilled all over her and her chair. She can only walk with assistance because her gait is so much worse. He added Klonipin on her last visit also.
