Rytary success stories

I have been hearing of more success with Rytary use. I have been giving a sample starter supply but have been reluctant to try it because I tend to have negative responses to most drugs.... the nocebo effect. Anybody have response to trying it?

Rytary is just an extended release version of carbidopa/levodopa. So if you tolerate carbidopa/levodopa, you should have no problem with Rytary.

I'm trying it right now I have been on it for about a month. I am also taking Azilect with it. It doesn't seem to last as long as the Sinemet 25/100mg I was taking. I'm not sure if it comes in different doses the Rytary dose I am taking is 23.75mg/95mg. I take 3 Rytary 2 pills 4 hours apart the 3rd pill 8 hours after the 2nd dose.

that is an odd dose. it is meant to be used every eight hours. talk to the folks at rytary as i did. our new neurologist was trying to use it like the non-rytary c/l by filling in more often. NO. it does come in 3 different doses. my husband is on the max. in the beginning it lasted seamlessly from one dose to another. it is a terrific med but like all of them, it is a very individual thing. now husband doesn't last the entire 8 hours, particularly if he exercises. his metabolism is probably rapid. when we were on ER c/l we had to use entapocone to fill in the gap but that eventually lost its efficacy. we are using 3 max dose every 8 hrs with a little bit more time between bedtime and rising as his metabolism should be slower then, not requiring as much.

61.25-245 3 caps every 8 hrs. for us: 7am/2pm/bedtime around 10:30. dosing according to manufacturer's direction is important. some docs seem to think it is used like the old sinemet but it is not. talk to the manufacturer...they have a dept of scientists who will talk with you about dosing.

I used rytary for several months and had astonishing results. I went for days and weeks with no PD symptoms. Felt great when i got up in the morning.

Then i started crashing at 3 hours. I would fill a cold sweat start on my lower back and then my whole back, then my hands would freeze up, i could hardly walk. i would take my next dose at 4 hours recover by 4 3/4 hour mark and it would start again. Then one night i woke up and could not speak other gibberish. Thought i had a stroke. But every thing came out okay.

Do i recommend the use o rytary Yes i do it gave months of my life back. I could do what ever i wanted go any where with out fear of of my Parkinson's acting up. I could eat in public.

I plan on giving Rytary another try this year and see if i can tolerate it. Rytary was great while it worked.

I tried it too. First couple of days I felt awesome...then by week two, I had severe back and neck pain. One side of my body was manic and the other side wouldn't work at all. I tried several doses and times, but couldn't get the right combination for my body. I went back to Sinemet

Thanks for asking this question. I too am thinking of asking my neuro about trying it with the hopes that it would reduce my dyskinesia since should provide a more even supply of levodopa.I'd love to know the experience of others who have dyskinesia.

I love rytary! I have been on it since the second day it was out BIG DISCLAIMER. .. I have had a gastric bypass. My dosing will be different from anyone else. It is a NEW delivery system for cardidopa levadopa. It's dosing will depend on the individual. I start the day with 3 small capsules, I then follow up after about 3 hours with 2 more. After that it's 2-2 1/2 hours til I take 2 more. I can't take the larger capsules and taking more at once gives me dyskenesia. I let my activity level and stress level tell me when to take the next dose. By doing this my dyskenesia is lessened and I feel great. I no longer have the ups and downs I did with the regular sinemet. I will never go back! By listening to my body, I now take less rytary and am able to do more.

So are you saying you take your Rytary in the first 5 hrs. of the day & don't have to take it again that day? Does it control your symptoms pretty well?

Do you have a tremor that it helps?

How many mg. in each pill?

My husband tried Rotary for 2 and 1/2 months. Unfortunately it would not stay in his system. It was such a disappointment because we had heard so many wonderful things about it. Sure hope it will work for you. As we know, by now, each PWP is unique and medications work differently for each person.

I'm not familiar with this drug since I don't know if it is the same as the controlled release sinemet in the US.
