Does a nonalcoholic beer (or one with alcohol), or coke, cider, or just any beverage with carbonation have an impact on EPI? I’m just not sure but was wondering if others have had issues. Sometimes one beer has no impact (includes nonalcoholic as well as the alcohol one) other times there is discomfort. Not sure if it’s the beverage or the food. Interestingly, the very rare shot of whiskey 🥃 has a rather pleasant affect-but this should never be a habit.

EPI and carbonated beverages

Hey Epiguy!
Alcohol can damage the pancreas by causing the early activation of digestive enzymes, leading to inflammation and tissue damage. Alcohol can exacerbate symptoms of pancreatitis, including abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and other health issues. It is strongly advised to avoid all alcohol when you have pancreatitis. Again, I can’t say it enough, alcohol can worsen the inflammation and damage to the pancreas, leading to complications. My man it’s just not worth it! For me, I stopped drinking altogether. Once in a while, every blue moon, when I am out to dinner with my wife, we will have a zero non-alcohol beer or mocktail. Also, I avoid drinking carbonation drinks as well, especially the sugary ones, there’s no nutritional benefit in drinking them. Apologize if this is not what you wanted to hear, but man I want to be around for a while to see my grandkids to become adults and get marry and have their own kids. It’s a blessing to have pancreatitis symptoms under control!
