It's hard to say what comes first, especially as several different things cause CP, but pain and poor digestion cover most things.

Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can occur if it's left untreated.

I'd obviously been having mini acute flares for years (gnawing or stabbing pains in my left shoulder) but didn't know what they were - and, because I didn't know, I had no idea what to do to manage them, but they always righted themselves, fortunately.

In the end, for me, the vitamin and mineral deficiencies and the lack of digestion drove me to seek specialist help and luckily my GP was happy to refer me to a brilliant team at Addenbrooke's.
