Appetite Enhancers

Does anyone know if there is a drug that my hubby can take to improve his appetite. Its getting worse and is becoming a big problem. I have tried little and often etc but just wondered if there was anything he could take. He hates the fortisip drinks!

Morning SanandPete,

Have you tried juicing either fruit or vegetables or a combination of both. You can always add a high quality protein powder or Complan.

Maybe visit a good health shop and get some advice.

Also if it is OK perhaps give him a good vitamin tonic which could enhance appetite.

Hi , a lot of people take steroids to help with this , i dont but i do take creon tablets to help with digestion , i also always keep jelly and icecream in , and smoothies , things that is easily swallowed , hope this is of some help to you x x

I would try making him a smoothie using the blender.. Or some nice Organic soup with a nice brown roll.

Hi both. Thanks. I have just borrowed a smoothie makes so onto that one and yes Cath he has been taking creons now for some time and I am sure they help him to maintain his weight, although he isn't putting any one. He loves ice cream. A jelly is a good plan - thanks.

Glad to hear you've got a smoothie maker.. My mum use to have these drinks to help with nutrition think they are called Forty Sip, you can get them in chocolate, banana, blackcurrent, orange, tropical fruit, strawberry etc..

Hi Keno. Pete has been prescribed forty sip drinks but absolutely hates them. He says they make him feel sick. I have about 100 sat in my front hall!

I don't like them either, i get a box full every month & share them out to family & friends lol I get them to gain weight but they make me feel sick too..

I use to get them before my mum did, she use to drink mine when she ran out.. When i visited her at the hospital alot of other folk had them too..
