Unexpected Weight Loss!

Hi all, I'm Corvin a 37 year old. I'm new to this.

the last six weeks I've felt my body deteriorating, in the last four days I've lost a stone in weight and that has scared me, I'm always tired and have no appetite I'm always thirsty and the need to go Urine. My mouth is always dry and numb, now I've started with more stomach and back pains pins and middle in my arms and legs.

my GP had a quick look at me and didn't see to raise a Red Flag she thought it was Anxiety! But as I researched on the matter I learned that you can't loose weight like that with Anxiety, then I looked up in more detail about my symptoms and what I found was Pancreatic cancer is the cause!

has anyone experienced unexpected weight loss like this before?

Yes. Weight loss can be a result of pancreatic cancer. If you have not been diagnosed, then don't panic!

Agree you should not be losing weight that quickly, however suggest you return to your Dr and ask for blood tests and a good checkup!

Thirst is a symptom of diabetes so would make that enquiry too.

Look at your diet too and make sure you eat well and healthily. Important whether well or sick!

Dr's never relate too well to a hypochondriac, so ask questions first of them!

Hope all goes well and you find a simple solution to your ills - and that you recover.

I lost weight... they said it was anxiety ..... I was itchy but that doesn't happen to everyone. I had a whipple operation... did chemo and it came back.....

Corvin to be safe I'd ask for an endoscopic procedure but first haven't they check your blood numbers for you pancreas and or liver. Mine was check and one was off the charts so they acted quickly. After my endoscopic I quickly had a Whipple as I had a tumor at the head of my pancreas which was cancerous. The good news is they got the entire tumor out and my margins are clear. I'm going thru sandwich chemo/radiation for the next 7.5 months. The chemo drug is called gemzar. I lost 25 pounds during this. Was 170 which is ideal weight for me and am currently 145 and 6 weeks after the surgery just starting to be able to eat better. Still some discomfort. A Whipple patient is like a reverse gastric bypass patient cause with gastric bypass they don't care much if you eat. With most Whipple patient they have lost weight and NEED to eat which is torture. The next question and concern is malnutrion. During chemo (new to me) I'm hoping I feel well enough to eat.

I will be scanned after about 2-3 months again. Hope the best for everyone.

hi Kiedor... Thanks for your reply, I had blood tests done and an ultrasound it all came back clear, the last 3 weeks my weight has gone up then down again, just having some discomfort in the upper abdominal area which I will be going back to a different GP for as my last doctor was useless!

Sorry to hear what your going through but it's a good thing they caught it early. I truly wish you a speed recovery, I can't say I know how you feel because I haven't nor really experiencing the same thing.

My symptoms keep on coming and going and the doctors can't find anything wrong with me, my last doctor kept saying its my Anxiety! But I know the difference and that's why I'm going else where for a second opinion.

Don't be a stranger, and keep us posted?

I wish you and everyone a good health and Recovery.
