I thought crps was just one limb? Do you have more widespread pain?

This is what I was told by the consultant 6 months ago, from my understanding it can affect more than one limb and is known to spread, not that it will affect everyone in the same way, however, the consultant has now booked me if for an mri scan on the right arm as they can't give me a proper diagnosis.my physio thinks I also have rotor cuff impingement in left shoulder and my occupational therapist is convinced I have carpel tunnel syndrome in right arm, even though the nerve study came back perfect. I also suffer from sciatica and have problem with my left hip, none of these things are serious in their own right but boy put them all together and don't I know it. At this moment in time I think my body has decided that it doesn't like me very much. Saw the nurse practitioner and she said she was puzzled by my new symptom so much so that she consulted a dr before prescribing antibiotics to see if this would do anything as I have inflammation makers in by blood results that weren't red flags but something is going on, so far antib's are doing much and I have to have more blood tests to see if the inflammation has been dampened by the antib's. 2 years down the line the only diagnosis i have been given is crps. Sorry for the waffly bits.

Hi snappy,

Might be worth seeing a physio and getting a trigger point checked out. Must be a physio experienced in trigger point therapy.

I have nausea, pelvic pain, disturbances with my gut, bladder and appetite on and off. I have trigger points in both sides that fire off and cause this. Look up trigger points if your not sure what they are. There is no actual pain at the trigger point site, it is always felt somewhere else along the nerve path, and it may be firing off in response to other trigger points firing off or another pain site or might just be working independently. Trigger pain does not settle with pain killers.

This point is located under the ribs at the back, quite hard to find yourself even when you know its there. If it is active, you will feel a very sharp pain (I mean incredibly sharp! nearly fell off the treatment table) when it is accupressed. The treatment for trigger points is pressing on them with a pressure you can tolerate for a few seconds. When it releases you press a bit harder and so on. Once you know how to find the location, and this one you can do yourself, you can carry on treating yourself as often as you like.

The trigger point may set off hormonal and other body chemical reactions which may be the cause of your infkammation makers in your blood.

It is worth getting it eliminated as a cause. And if it is a cause it is easily treated although treatment is slow, sometimes painful, you can do it to your own timetable yourself.

Thanks Zanna, I thought that it may be linked to my current condition, but NP didn't make the connection & I didn't want to pre-empt another diagnosis, I will mention this when i go back to the docs, save any messing around with being set here there and everywhere and the inevitable long wait to another consultant.

RSD/CRPS spreads in 77% of all sufferers. In 10% it goes full body, that is all 4 limbs, torso, neck, head, eyes, mouth and internal organs. 7 - 8% of us get wounds that may never heal, I am one still have acupuncture wounds visible form 19/1/2010 and unhealed flying Ant bits fron 22/7/2011. So far had it spread from hand upto elbow whe a specialist used a sensitivity pin 4 ins outside what we thought was the affected area and start in both legs when my grandson trod on my toes with his shoes on.
