I have found that by taking about 1 hour before going to be at night, leaves me fine, when I wake up in the morning.

Hi. I must admit I had problems with duloxetine trying when to take it. I now settle on about 2 or 3pm in the afternoon, mainly because I take a lot of regular other strong meds early morning and before bed time that could add to the side effects more. I also found it interfered with my sleep a bit which is bad enough as it is lol. So far this has worked better for me and helps with neuropathic pain.. Only problem is leaving it somewhere so I can remember to take it lol. Hope that's a suggestion. Sandra

Yes, of course, all suggestions are welcome, glad you’ve found a regime that helps. You are lucky being able to tolerate strong meds at all. Am having huge probs with the drug...and it’s only my third day!

Can you put an alert on your phone for timing?

Yes that's a good idea, quite used to my meds now, so much I have to have top up day time meds anyway so need reminder for naproxen or nefopam. I'm on a small dose of zomorph, used to be on tramadol for my back.. which I was put on when I had a blood clot in my spleen which caused acute pain, now taken out I've reduced the dose 80% and added naproxen or nefopam and something to prevent migraines.

Hope you find duloxetine works for you. I just hated the nausea and stomach ache to begin with.

Many thanx, as they’re delayed release can feel the side effects starting as I write! It’s a curse to be this sensitive. Affects eyes too, everything’s tiny bit shaky. Ah well. Hafta give it a bit longer or will never know.

Sandra, did you find you gained weight? Have been on it two days and gained 2kgs! It’s not food, eat very little and all good stuff. This is freaking me out!

I'm not sure, I have put on a little weight and had trouble losing it. although to be honest I've only been on it a couple of months and recently I've been ill with this covid19 virus at home and have forgotten to take any as couldnt get out of bed for ten days felt so ill, dizzy and had visual problems and was on my own, luckily apart from cough after over 3 weeks I'm better apart from cough. Got to start again maybe today though as don't feel great.. Lol I'll let you know but hope its not that. I found the worst things for weight gain for me was gabapentin and amitryptaline!

So sorry about the virus. Poor you, was obviously horrible. Perhaps you shouldn’t start again till you feel much better? Am having really nasty side effects myself, and you wouldn’t want them when still feeling off colour, just in case they upset you...something you don’t need with everything you’ve very been through. Rest and eat well...be kind to yourself.

X

Thank you.. You too. Let me know how you get on with duloxetine, keep being told that or amitripyline is best for neuro pain and depression, Just tried to tidy garden a bit, but it's definitely a no lol as I live on a hill .. as balance and vision gone funny so decided to rest instead lol. X

Hi.. No, no light gardening today lol trouble is when partners working away atm so got no support because of covid at present so got to be careful however bored can't afford any falls. Hope you've had a good day. Started duloxetine again last night as felt I really needed it, so let you know how I go, noticed reduced appetite today and headache this morning , don't mind reduced appetite...

Fyllida profile image
Fyllida in reply to DALLYSALLY

Yeah, same here. Do have a partner who’s excellent at cuppas and hotties but God knows how he’d cope with a fall etc. Apart from being a caged tiger, that is. Deloxitine changed pattern today....instead of afternoon mania, woke up feeling like hell though so far today no repeat of yesterday’s histrionics, but still glad all the kitchen knives are blunt! Just hoping the drug will work, even 50% reduction in pain would be great. But it’s early days and am trying to be patient 😬

Look forward to your update. Take care. X

PS. Loving the reduced appetite, v handy as dishwasher has chosen to break down....!

Hi I'm looking to change my meds tomorrow as duluxotine and tramadol is not helping one bit . I'm st my wits end and I was gonna ask for morphine but I'm not sure he will give me it . What did u prefer for the pain

Fyllida profile image
Fyllida in reply to misstopaz

Am new to Deloxitine so trying to get through the side effects of the initial phase. Tried Oxycodone plus Ibuprofen but the combo only gave me an hour or so relief after a few weeks. And docs are very unwilling to prescribe Ibuprofen anyway.

Liquid morphine might well be the way to go....you only have to ask! There’s also the Mezolar patch, could be considered.

Best of luck.

It's been a while since I last took tramadol, I originally had it for a back injury and fibromyalgia, don't find much difference with small amount of zomorph I'm on but advantage is the slow release you can take morning and night, and if I need more main relief now I've got FND I take naproxen or nefopam and duloxetine in the afternoon. There is oramorph liquid morphine but I always found it short lasting and made me dizzy. Hope you find something that suits..

I found taking one at night was best ....strangely one of those tablets that at least side effects once I got into a routine after about a week..

Thanx, useful info, but no bruising just yet.

I didn’t get bruising right away took a while... big thing for me it interacted with my thyroid meds even though I took it hours apart.

I take levothyroxine but hoping for the best. Not seen anything about bruising on the internet. Maybe you were just unlucky.

I see this is an older post, but wondered how you got on? I took fist duloxetine on Tuesday night. Just stopped vomiting midday today Thursday. Can it do that , or coincidence? My cheeks look scalded!!! Scared to try another. I had to self inject imigran wed night and take a triptan tonight . Just got up for “clap” managed toast and bed now. Can 1 pill do that?

Fyllida profile image
Fyllida in reply to Nonameavailable

I would say so as this drug sent me crazy for 20 hours! Worst experience of my life and thought was going mad. Every symptom imaginable. Could NEVER recommend this pernicious drug but some people seem to manage with it. Lucky them. If you had experience you describe, don’t forget that if you take the chance of ultimate success and persist, you will have some side effects. I did, even after only one.

Cannot advise you personally, except to say...please be cautious and listen to your body....it’s sending you a message.

This cannot be right. You have to be allergic to this drug. Speak to your doctor, there is no antidote and it is a question of getting it out of your system but if you are still vomiting you MUST ask for advice, please do and let us know.

Hi Fyllida . Pleased to say no vomiting / nausea since lunch time. Managing to hydrate now. Guess I just don’t cope with medication .. just gonna have to live with and find ways round pain. Thank you for concern 😊

Fyllida profile image
Fyllida in reply to Nonameavailable

That’s how I am trying to cope . We are both sensitive to meds. Just about managing on ibuprofen and Shortec,

They do give some relief but not for long and not always, make me dizzying. Just waiting for Virus limitations to lift so can have an MRI, but it’s incredibly depressing and scary, I know. Try and be optimistic and not get stressed out as that increases pain and 🤞🏼before too long the docs will be able to help us more. Stay strong though it’s easier said than done. Try. You are not alone.
