Good afternoon,

At the University of Bath we are conducting a 30-minute online study on visual perception in chronic pain. From previous research we know that many people with chronic pain report to be sensitive to certain visual stimuli, such as striped patterns or bright lights. With this study we want to systematically map those complaints and test some of our ideas about this. For this study I am looking for 20 more people with chronic pain to participate, and also for 20 more people WITHOUT pain. The study was approved by the ethics committee of the Psychology Department of the University of Bath. Please find more information, and the link to the study, here: bathpsychology.eu.qualtrics...

You can only participate using a laptop or pc, with a computer mouse or mouse pad. It would be a great help if you could participate or ask other people (with or without pain) to participate.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

I had a bad back from a car accident about 13 years ago. Three years ago the pain management consultant suggested that I have a facet joint injection and intense physio. He mass it sounds so easy but didn’t explain the risks involved. Within a day or so I started with the most unbelievable pain and after a week ended up being admitted as the pain took my blood pressure to 210/140!!!!! I thought I was dying!

I was kept in while they tried to help me manage the pain but I was basically ignored by the pain management department. Eventually I was transferred to a pain management course where the consultant told me that they had either hit a nerve when doing the operation and damaging it or my muscles has spasmed and got trapped like that causing the secere pain. By this time I was on so much morphine and gabapentin I couldn’t think straight.

Two years later I was also diagnosed with fibro.

I’m happy to do your survey do we just click the link or do you anything from us first?

Thanks
