Incontinence and transverse process fracture

Hi,

I have a transverse process fracture on my L1. Was not informed that this was picked up on the MRI read it on my paperwork.

I’m still having urinary and bowel incontinencw which they have just put down to constipation. I’ve sufferes on and off with constipation for many years so I’m not convinced.

The orthopaedics said the nerves are fine. But I’m wondering if they’ve missed something.

Could they see all the nerves in my back through the MRI? Or just the larger ones?

Have you considered asking for a referal to a Neurologist?

Have you asked for copies of your MRI scan reports? You can also ask for copies of all the images.

I could certainly try asking. I’m just worried there is nerve damage they either missed or couldn’t see on the MRI

You have a right to access all information held about you. Then you could make a list of questions to ask your GP or Consultant next appointment. I have found lots of things in my scan reports and records that I wasn't told about.

Have you ever seen the Continence Adviser / Nurse? In most areas you can make a self referal. The Bladder and Bowel helpline could give you a contact number or you could Google it for your area.
