Herniated Disc Help me guys:(
I know this well. 4 lumbar fusions and 1 thoracic. Chronic back pain. We most all get Herniated disc, buldging discs etc. Exercises and posture modification can reverse in early stages. Unless your disc breaks and material protruding you can fix or makw better. I have some now and also had broken where nerves are compromised
Working CORE muscles and Hip muscle can reverse this. There is tons of self PT on line. Do it and daily before it gets serious. Make PT time daily
They hurt but avoid the consequences of fusions by being proactive
Hi. I've had herinated discs for probably longer than I've known. But Xmas i stupidly lifted my rabbit hutch single handed and twisted my spine. Omg the pain. Cut a very long story short, I had CT SCAN and the spinal diagnostic team I'm under are going to remove the really bad one and cage the other two. I've had numerous painkillers, I'm allergic to morphine and other opiates. Bog standard painkillers for me. But... I also have stable bipolar and my meds for that day include AMYTRIPTILYNE I only needed 20mg to my other medications for this. But my spinal doc updated my dose to 70mgs. The pain in my leg/buttock from troubled discs has vanished. It's the first time in nearly 8 months I've been pain free.
Had herniated discs for 25 yrs now. Have had nerve blocks, pt and now on pain management. I'm on Zoomorph, amytriptyline, naproxen, omeprazole, gabapentin, oramorph and amlodipine daily. Rattle if i jump !
But, all this allows me to work ( my job is quite physical as well ). All told over the years I've probably lost about a year in time off work as it has deteriorated . Biggest issue is as a result of the accident ( broke my back in a car accident) I've been left with damaged nerves as well. Both the thoracic and sciatic nerves are damaged and as a result, my legs flare up and it hurts to stand/walk/lie down, and my fingers go numb. Nerve blocks and radio ablation didn't work. Luckily pain killers and keeping active do.
However, you will have days when you have to slow down. Listen to your body and slow down , don't stop being active though, that will just make it worst.
